Ah, the man who was once described as the Gorbals Goebbels.
Fantasy abandoned by reason produces impossible monsters: united with her [reason], she [fantasy] is the mother of the arts and the origin of their marvels.

I think Homer will be in the top 3, just for his mainstream recognition alone.

Loooong before Tony Soprano
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

he pre-dates Tony Soprano by quite some time.

People who haven't read the books like to use it as an "inside joke" amongst themselves.
A terrible joke that.

Regarding this list, I am slightly disappointed that Joffrey Baratheon is not higher up on the list. Don't know if there is any more disliked character in that list. That alone should move him up.

mine is that he's not in the top 20...

Walter Bishop at 93?

That alone tells you that list was compiled by morons. I'm not the biggest fan of Fringe, but John Noble in that was outstanding. He made that show by himself.

Amen.

Ron Swanson and Mrs. Coach better be top 10 or I do not understand the point of this list.

Football without fans is nothing.

We've won 18 titles, 5 European Cups, 7 FA Cups, but today must be the greatest victory of all.

Actually, surely Eric Cartman (+ Randy Marsh) deserve inclusion since the bulk of South Park has been post-2000, particularly at its peak with those characters.

Basically a pointless list. Most characters would have as strong a claim as another.

Locks for top 10:

Tyrion Lannister
Walter White
Don Draper
Omar Little

Other characters with a good shot, but which I don't necessarily endorse:

Peggy Olsen (Mad Men - they'll need a strong female character and it'll be Peggy or Leslie)
Louis C.K. (Louis - probably the strongest sitcom character in this time?)
Nucky Thompson (Boardwalk Empire - No Boardwalk fan likes Nucky more than Richard Harrow, but he'll end up higher because the list makes no sense)
Leslie Knope (Parks and Rec - see Peggy above)
Hannah Horvath (Girls - because Lena Dunham is a voice of a generation)

Also.. Finn the Human from Adventure Time?

GOB from Arrested Development should rank fairly highly too, as would Larry David from Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Oh and Liz Lemon!

64 and 53 should be higher.
Manchester United could win fifty titles, but they will always be the Rolling Stones of football. Good, just not quite that band from Liverpool.

Not even the best character in Archer, when you consider that he shares a show with Pam, Krieger, Ray and Cheryl.

Archer is like Arrested Development in a lot of ways, not least of which is that the supporting cast is one of its strongest qualities.

She's the award-winner of the bunch... yeah, it's odd to me too. I understand having Red in the list because she's great (and she's nowhere near that high) but it's an ensemble piece with only two seasons so far, so none of them really merit inclusion.

As for Barney from HIMYM, really? Only seen the first season but you might as well include Joey from Friends. Equally ridiculous and insubstantial.

Two seasons is bad (and so much higher than Jesse Pinkman?), but number 99 is in a show that's been on since January.

Big mainstream impact, Joey could still be on the list but if there's anyone from Friends it should be one of Ross/Chandler.
