Hi, stag in peace here.

Obviously looking forward to the game on Sunday, it's a game we start with nothing to lose and everything to gain, best scenario for us without doubt would be sneak a draw and have a great pay day out for the club at your place.

The pitch isn't great at the moment, but forecast is to stay dry between now and the weekend, it's not the worst pitch you will ever see normally looks a picture and one of the better surfaces in this god forsaken league we find ourselves in, however after the wettest year on record it's suffered, remember we are non league so budgets are not quite the same down here in the bowels of football.

It's going to be a great day for the long suffering diehard stags fans, we suffered years of abuse by a chairman whom milked the club for every penny he could culminating in our relegation from the football league, goggle Mansfield & haslam, you will find the history behind it.

Our team, on paper a very strong BSP side,( started the season as a bookies favourite for automatic promotion) this season we have only seen minor glimpses of what on paper they should be capable of, I hope they turn up Sunday and don't roll over, not going to come on here giving it the big one, in reality we don't stand a chance but stranger things have happened ?  What we don't want is a cricket score.

It's a big day for us, call it our cup final, defiantly going to enjoy it, it's pay back time for all those miles put in following your team through very little thick and plenty of thin over the 40 years I've been following the stags.

For those that travel have a safe journey and see you Sunday, let's have a great party atmosphere and enjoy, we can dream ?

Finally, may I pass on my respect to the 96 and their families.

Surely the pitch will suit your lads

The way the pitch is I'd rest our more injury prone players
Gerrard
Agger

And wouldn't risk Suarez or Glen  on it

To be honest I guess it will, as a football fan though I would like to see the likes of Suarez & Gerrard grace our turf, not like it's ever likely to happen again,  thought they where awesome last night, actually wasn't good to watch from a stags fan point of view, they looked lethal.

Fair comment mate but we have to think about the bigger picture

We have a weeks rest but Gerrard and Suarez and most of our first 11 have played a lot of football recently

Hope to see Sturridge show why we paid £12m ?

Have a great day

Stag Party literally just took the words right out of my mouth.  :-[ Another stags fan in peace but also follow Liverpool due to my mothers side being massive pool fans.

But yeah, we've already won given the amount of money the cup run has brought us already. Hopefully get us a quality player or two for our promotion push to the end of the season.

We'll most likely play a 4-4-1-1 formation to start with.

Marriott
Thompson Geohaghan Dempster Daniel
Briscoe Howell Clements Meikle
Hutchinson
Green

Though we do have a few extra options with Rhead, Murray, Beevers all pushing for starting spots.

I'm can't see us really challenging your guys simply based on your style of play but if we play our football (which is when we play our best stuff) then I'll be happy. Would hate for us to just lump it 9 times out of ten just for us to lose it again. Our main threat is definitely from set pieces without a doubt with some giant, powerful defenders in Exodus Geohaghan (Kyrgiakos demi-god levels) and John Dempster, that probably will look like our most likely goal-scoring threat.

Forward line wise, Matt Green is our star player. He hasn't quite hit the heights of last season just yet, scoring just 8 goals so far this season, but a good second half of the season could see him in to the 20's, after scoring 29 goals last season. He's a very pacey player who's looking for a ball in behind the defence. He's rarely ever caught offside with his runs in to the channel. Torres-esque if you will. Other notable strikers are Matt Rhead, a massive lump of a striker with a surprisingly composed first touch and Jake Speight, who has also scored 8 goals despite mostly being on the bench for us.

Our other players of note are -

Louis Briscoe - Blows very hot or cold but is capable of the very spectacular.
Lindon Meikle - A very tricky winger who will constantly run at defenders.
Alan Marriott - A keeper far too good for this level. Best keeper we've had in years.

I'm looking forward to a fantastic day out seeing some quality players play at Field Mill. Think we all want to see Suarez and co just because we can say we played a full strength Liverpool team and didn't disgrace ourselves. In reality, the thought of Suarez against our defenders gives me nightmares.  :-X

I'm looking forward to a fantastic day and giving some fun banter with you lot. And if we can just get that one little goal, that'll do me a treat.  ::)

Looking at that pitch there is no way we should start our stronger XI. I dont want Suarez anywhere near that pitch to be honest.

That being said Fair play to the OP and Mansfield fans posting itt.

Just an unfortunate case of this time of year for clubs with pitches like ours. That being said, it won't be TOO bad. Generally plays better than it looks. :)

I don't want to see Agger, Johnson, Suarez or Gerrard on the pitch particularly. The team posted further up would be ok. It's not even a case of rest for some of the players, but it's a game where we can flex the squad a bit. Looking forward to it.

I'm looking forward to this but you get the feeling our passing game will be inhibited due to the pitch. Would love to see a strong side but the lads have played a lot of games over the festive period and this is the ideal opportunity to rest a few of our key members. Hope they travel though just for the Mansfield fans, get the feeling they are really humbled and excited to play us and it would be disappointing to see our reserve side trot down to Field Mill. There's a weeks rest from now till the Man Utd game aswell.

I would play a very strong team. Mansfield away on 3rd round day is not a place to blood youngsters and there is a full week to recover before the united game.
I wouldn't piss about with this game. Get it won and fuck off out of the place.

Is correct lad, cant believe all these changed teams. 2 or 3 changes maybe, but certainly no more. Play a strong team, another 3-0 will do very nicely. We'r lookin confident at the moment, important to keep that going, big game this.

Agreed,    maybe BR should have the lads training on the shanks playing field or stanley park.  get them used to proper sod as opposed to the snooker table'esq turf they are used to.

even if the rested players travel with the team just to walk around the ground to sign autographs or pose for photos for the home fans while the others warm up.  this is a big game for the home team.  they are just wanting to have the rare experience of seeing world class players grace their park.   but they will give us a fight to be sure.

because its their drawn "home" game i suppose.   a lot of local business are looking forward to the traveling kop coming to town.   their local economy is going to boom from it.     who gets the gate receipts?  merchandise sales, shop sale revenue if it was played at anfield instead first?

http://www.chad.co.uk/sport/football/mansfield-town-fc/fa-cup-clash-will-boost-town-s-coffers-1-5274373

after all. if it did end up in a draw.   where would the replay be played?   in that aspect its at the away teams place, the game would be played twice at anfield.  not fair on the mansfield fans who would have to travel twice to see their team.   its a big event for them.
