Llorente & Huntelaar
« on: September 27, 2012, 10:54:57 pm »
Not often two European goal machines in their prime come on the market for a cut price.

Both are out of contract in the summer, right ? I'd imagine they would fetch about 10-15m each in Jan.

Llorente (27 years old):   Games 348 Goals 130

Huntelaar (29 years old): Games 380 Goals 251

Can't imagine either are needed at the two Manchester clubs, or Barca/Madrid.

Where are they going then ? PSG ? Chelsea ? Spurs ? Juve ?

We're not signing Klaas Jan Huntelaar. I'm a huge fan of him and can tell you now that we're not signing him at all. Just in case you wanted to know what my opinion was it's we're not signing Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

Klaas actually plays tomorrow for Schalke 04 against Dusseldorf. I just wrote about the game in the Bundesliga thread.

I know why you think we have a chance in signing KJH because Heldt has said there is no progress in a new contract with Klaas.

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11887/8113772/Schalke-04-still-not-able-to-tie-down-Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar-to-a-new-contract-at-the-Veltins-Arena

He has played 7 games this season which 4 have been sub and scored 6 goals which isn't too bad for a CF being supplied by Draxler/Holtby.

Can't see Arsenal going for either after they brought in Podolski and Giroud. Think Chelsea will be in for Falcao and/or Cavani next summer, too.

I reckon you're right that Spurs is a good shout for one of them though.

wrong loan.

The bid was accepted of 16m for Llorente but it never happened to Juventus. Juventus will go for him in January for sure then they'll be on another level in Serie A.

Back to back champions.

Unfortunately both don't have a resale value in 5 years time so I think the owners will pass on them. Stupid I know, but unfortunately that's how we'll do our business in the future.

Unfortunately both don't have a resale value in 5 years time so I think the owners will pass on them. Stupid I know, but unfortunately that's how we'll do our business in the future.

Huntelaar, maybe.

With Llorente I don't think this will have anything to do with it, honestly.  Sure, he would cost 15 million and probably want a big wage as he'd be coming at a lower price (surely over 100k), but I think he'd still be worth it, even for our owners.  Sign him up for 4 or 5 years, and then FSG would be assured of getting their money back in 18 months or 2 years when he's 29 and has banged in goals here for fun.  Chelsea, PSG, Real, who knows?  Surely someone would pay 20 million for him at age 29 if he's still playing like he is now, which seems likely.

The problem will be that he'll look at his options and think "Hm, I could go to Juventus and be Italian champion and live in the sun, or I could go to Spurs and let my WAG enjoy London shopping while we push for the Champion's League.  Or I could go to Liverpool and enjoy the pleasures of a fight for the Europa League spots.  Hmmmm."  I'm not saying that it's fair, because it's not and we can all see that Rodgers is on the way to building something real here.  But for a player coming to the end of his career in one or two more moves, he's not going to see it that way.

Juventus will definitely be in for one of them, Chelsea will go for Falcao in the summer, no doubt in my mind at all. Spurs have Adebayor, Arsenal have Giroud, both Manc clubs are sorted as are Newcastle. I reckon we'd stand a decent chance, out of the two I'd want Llorente.

Can see Madrid and Barcelona going for Llorente, just to get some more spanish flavour to their squads, (and on a free). Huntelaar would be an enticing proposition for anyone, one of the best poachers/goalgetters going around, so I imagine a ton of clubs would be looking at him.

For me, I hope they both stay at their clubs.

Would allow us to dig out the old Torres Jersey 8)

Don't see any of them moving in Jan, though. I think both will wait out a few more months and collect a nice sign-on fee.
Would love the 19th more and more trophies; but would love even more to see a fan owned LFC.

Llorente's goal scoring ratio is surprisingly low, especially compared with Huntelaar's.
It is nice to speculate, but  I will doubt we would get any one of them. If we really wanted one, we should have got him in that fateful window when Torres left.

His age (29) might put some sides off, which could put us in with a sniff.

With no Champions League football he would have to be REALLY keen to link up with Suarez again to come here. That and a massive three/four year deal.

Huntelaar-No chance.
Llorente-maybe,depends on whether Marotta bothers with him in January(that would be our only worthy competition for him).
