Nice to see CNN have enough time to show ads for the election and broadcast political party productions during this time of national emergency. Im sure all the Americans are more bothered about who the guy running the country will be rather than keeping safe ...

As you might have realized (since YOU'RE watching), natural disasters and national emergencies are big business for cable news channels.  The candidates want to reach all of the viewers watching these channels, and the channels want to capitalize on the increased viewership to make more money (via ad spots).

Indeed. CNN seems to have ads every 5 minutes on them.

Thats just CNN in general, as much as I like watching a lot of their coverege of any news event or just the news in general, they show a rediculous amont of adverts

While they're having a break over there with the election I just thought you might give 5 minutes of your time to sign this petition for a wonderful lady

A mother who lost her son at Hillsborough wants the new inquest into his death to be brought forward after discovering she has terminal cancer.

Anne Williams has helped lead the campaign for truth and justice for more than two decades after her 15-year-old son Kevin died in the 1989 disaster.

New inquests look set to be held into the deaths of all 96 Hillsborough victims following the Hillsborough Independent Panel's report in September - and campaigners have now set up an e-petition to request that Kevin's is brought forward after Anne was diagnosed with bowel cancer.

Anne said: "I'm still getting my head around the whole thing. I don't want to know how long I've got because I just want to enjoy whatever time is left with my family and friends."

Anne, 59, was one of the six families involved in the formation of the Hillsborough Justice Campaign in 1998.
She also established Hope For Hillsborough (For Justice) to fight for justice for Kevin.

Anne said: "I want to thank everyone who has helped me over all the years, the barristers and forensic pathologists who waived fees to enable me to get through the system as well as the people of Merseyside who believed in what I was trying to do when it felt like no-one else was listening.

"They supported me because they knew I was right and I'll be always be grateful for that. I'll keep on fighting - I've been doing it for long enough - but I'm not an idiot and know how serious this is. I did watch the debate from parliament this week and it was good to see things start to move forward - I just hope I get the chance to see justice for my Kevin and for the 96."

https://submissions.epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/40925

Or you could e-mail the attorney general

Dear Attorney General,

Thank you for the work you have done so far in giving your commitment to apply to the High Court to have the inquest verdicts quashed with regard to the 96 victims of the Hillsborough disaster.

You have indicated that you expect to make this application before Christmas, which under normal circumstances would be an acceptable timescale for this to happen.

Tragically though we have learned in the last few days that Anne Williams, the mother of Kevin Williams one of the 96 victims,  has terminal cancer,  and there is now great concern that she will not live long enough to be able see the justice served that she has fought so long and heroically for during the last 23 years.

Therefore I request that you now give your full commitment to speed up the process of making your application to the High Court in the hope that another tragic injustice, to add to the many others,  can be avoided.

Many thanks for your consideration on this matter,

correspondenceunit@attorneygeneral.gsi.gov.uk

Hope you all don't get shitty with me, but it's not like RAWK to not help a lady in need

Pffft - socialism. This has no place in America. This the land of the frontier, and looking after yourself, not relying on the government like a sissy.

People should drag themselves up by the bootstraps and make their own success and insurance through hard work, not handouts.

Just like Donald - he had the same opportunities as everyone with a multi-millionare real estate mogul father has. No socialism there as his dad paid his way and provided him with a job out of Ivy league business school and eventually gave him a multi-million dollar cut of the estate inheritance.

If you've never seen the actual show, go do so immediately. Without question (well, within my personal opinion) one of the top five comedies ever produced anywhere. It's only four short series of half-hour episodes plus two specials, so you can watch the whole thing in a day.

Christie isn't a moderate, but he's a pragmatist. Has to be to govern with a Dem legislature in a Dem state. And the idea that he's only being nice to Obama to get federal $$ is dumb. It's not like he was opposed to federal disaster relief funding until yesterday for chirst sake.

Not all of them are that bad. Some have always defied any party diktat to cross party lines as they deemed fit. But yes, there is now a core of nutters who see Democrat sponsored bills blocked as a win and far better than compromise which would suit all.

Who could you possibly be referring to?   :D

I hope not being able to campaign (ie helping save people's lives) won't hurt Obama come the election
Goodbye & thank you Rafa. You've given us more than we ever had a right to expect from you and you stayed loyal and fought for us even when some of our own turned on you. I truly hope that you find somewhere with the support that you deserve & win everything in sight.

Not all of them are that bad.

The leadership is.

Not sure who put forward the idea that he was being nice to Obama? And him asking for federal aid has fuck all to do with his Dem legislature.
