I don't necessarily think McCarthy for example is a limited manager, he's managed Ireland at a World Cup which they performed well in and has overall a decent track record,

He has the lowest win % in premiership history (across his managerial career).

Look at the teams he's managed in the top flight though - all sides that he's managed to get promoted, which is no mean feat in itself as L1 is very competitive.

Always liked the guy, straight, no bullshit. Altho i was surprised they sacked him at this stage, it's obviously understandable given the run of results

Shame that.
Hope they get Curbishley and go down.
I got the Lucas thing wrong. Will be right on Henderson though. Play him RM, play him CM - Not good enough and never will be.

Don't know who Wolves should get to be honest. Maybe the guy who coaches that amazing Chile side? They should totally try for him, it would be amazing.

No, not Bielsa, who manages Athletic Bilbao now. Universidad De Chile ring any bells?

Walter Smith the new favourite, only until the end of the season. Decent appointment i think.

Though i did hear a Wolves fan on talkshite saying he wouldn't be good enoough on the basis of what he did at Everton, totally disregarding the rest of his career

Now Walter Smith has turned them down! What a cock up Morgan and Purslow have made of appointing a manager!

If you were going to sack your manager surely you would have a replacement lined up? They're going to end up with second choice Steve Bruce because no one else will go there.

I just don't understand why these things happen again and again. Purslow and Morgan are successful people in the business world. Why do these seemingly intelligent people leave their brains at the front door when it comes to football?

I think they have to be a shoe in for relegation now, its hardly going to inspire the players to work harder.

Is Purslow connected to Wolves now or are you using him as another example? If the former, that explains a lot!

BREAKING NEWS: nobody has turned down the wolves job in the last hour

Wasn't this supposed to be Curbishley's job by now? And didn't they want a manager by the weekend? When the likes of Warnock and Walter Smith are turning it down, you know something isn't right, even if it is short-term. Have a feeling Bruce will end up getting it.

That would be a ace mate but would he get an immediate response from the players, they may have to go down to re-group.
In truth they should have stuck with McCarthy, but Morgan twisted with high stakes against his PL survival and his own reputation. Given his background networking with kings you'd have thought he'd have known better. Instead he looks like a joker.

Many papers have said that Bruce is willing to take it on a short option. The problem is the Wolves fans want him nowhere near there. Looking at their forums, they want a younger manager by most accounts. Problematically for them, many of these younger managers they want like McDermott at Reading want nothing to do with them

Just what is the point of that at all? May aswell of just left Mick incharge till the end of the season.

So glad Steve Morgan didn't get his wish and get his chance to own us. He'd have us having a different manager every season whilst sharing a ground with Everton.

As I said before, why do otherwise intelligent men consistently make utterly bone headed decisions when it comes to running a football club? The whole Harry Redknapp escapade shows just how weird our football culture is. Is there any industry where a man who claims to be practically illiterate could reach such a senior position? It seems in English football intelligence is looked on with disdain.

Sacking an experienced manager and putting the untested assistant in charge, that's a sensible decision! Its possible it could work out, but if it does then its pure luck on Morgan's part.

On the Purslow point, I think he's best pals with Steve Morgan isn't he? He is another example of an otherwise intelligent, successful man making absolutely retarded football decisions which seem to be based on nothing other than what the press men say.

Wolves are odds on for relegation now and rightly so.
