Luckily for him he has the good folk of Newcastle to gouge and the club's commercial department to swindle.

Saw the below tweet below that made me chuckle.

Former Sheffield United manager Steve Bruce resigns from Sheffield Wednesday job as the former Sunderland manager gets ready to take over at Newcastle. Anyone would think the former Birmingham and Aston Villa manager didn't care much for footballing loyalty

Work with a Wednesday fan who's gutted about this because Bruce has apparently done a really good job since taking over there.  But that's his thing, isn't it, managing in the Championship.

Part of me thinks they carried on going to matches out of love and loyalty to Rafa. But really, now there's nothing left to bother with.  If they keep forking out money to watch fat head in the dug out their wasting money that would be better spent on drugs.  And that's not a good way to spend money at all.

He is an attacking midfielder

Poor guy. Comes over in a big money move, looks the real deal. Gets to work with and learn from Rafa. Plays with a couple of decent PL strikers in Perez and Rondon.

Summer comes and he sees all the strikers in front of him leave and Benitez out the door and Steve f'n Bruce and his shithouse longball tactics about to walk through the door.

Life comes at you fast.

If they continue going to the games now that Rafa and their favourite players are leaving, and Steve fucking Bruce is on his way, they are digging their own grave and it's hard to see how they will get out of it. I feel for them, because there is so much potential. However, banners and marches are not good enough and that's all they've tried.

Having gone matches and stood on the Gallowgate (without a roof) during my Poly days - I like/love Newcastle. I could name the places I've worked in Byker, Wallsend, Fenham, North Sheilds with great people. They are like us, and I saw and recorded the decline of manufacturing jobs.

Todays match going fan are not like the one's I went with over 30 years ago.

I hope they get a proper protest organised and true fans reclaim their club.

When Benitez made his decision. If he'd decided to sign, then the prospective takeover would have failed as soon as his signature was on the contract. Once he decided not to sign, the prospective takeover petered out as he made his statement and definitively failed when his contract ran out.

Newcastle are a great investment opportunity in my opinion. Ashley isn't asking for the world for the club and as a new owner you'd have months, maybe years of goodwill by virtue of not being Mike Ashley. Not much to do to the stadium either, guaranteed 60k through the turnstiles every week. Put a bit of money into the transfer pot and you'd be laughing. You could have a potential top 6 club for about £600m all told I reckon, not bad considering the TV money is worth about that every 6 seasons.

I think you need savy business people to turn it around. They like Everton are really behind the some of the other Top 6 in terms of commercial revenue. TV revenue is the big part of how clubs make money and having a big stadium is not as important in PL as it used to be. Its the commercial and TV revenues that have increased drastically.

Newcastle have shitty deals with Ashley's companies for stadium rights, merchandise etc. I doubt they even make that much of kit sponsorship. They are marketable though. There are lot of Newcastle fans all around the world.
