I’m just amazed that footballers constantly get away with such behavior. Their marriages and relationships must be very strong.

Had to laugh at this extra note in the Guardian report:

Quote
On Tuesday it emerged that Rooney had inadvertently further hampered Derby’s strained preparations for the new season after injuring one of his players during a recent training camp. The manager challenged Jason Knight during a practice game that left the Republic of Ireland midfielder with an ankle injury that could sideline him for up to three months.

This whilst Derby are struggling for numbers ahead of the start of the season.  I know it's just one of those things that can happen, but...well, he's not having the best of weeks is he!? ;D

I think it's because they have great personalities and are dedicated to their families.
I’ve plenty links to the clubs playing and backroom staff as many on here know thank you very much. Fair enough, I admire your optimism. But you’re absolute ostriches if you think this squad, even with 2 or 3 new, “cut price” players with potential get us anywhere close

So, the excuse “attending a private party with two friends” is in no way an obviously transparent euphemism for getting caught with a couple of sex workers in a hotel room, right?

What with him also taking out his club’s top scorer (for 3 months) in training, and having to sleep in the doghouse (literally you’d imagine), poor little chunky Wayne can at least find solace in the fact that, by a fortuitous quirk of fate, this was also the week Squires of the Guardian, took a holiday.

Mad to think Rooney and Milner are the same age and both broke through in the PL at the same time.

Milner still a good quality PL performer and in great shape. Rooney looked shot physically even 4 years ago going back to Everton after United fucked him off.

Is it? I've never read about Fabinho, Salah, Van Dijk, de Bruyne and many many other players out sticking their dick where they shouldn't be.

There's over 500 first team squad players registered in the premier league. If you add those who play in the championship to that list then its well over 1000.

That's a lot of 20 to 30 year old millionaires with a lot of free time on their hands. Most of whom are also well known in the cities/towns where their clubs are based

My guess is Rooney and his antics are small change compared to what a lot of players/managers in the modern game get up to in their spare time

Just because Fabinho and Salah haven't been caught with their pants down doesn't mean that it doesn't go on. Of course it does

Quote
Wayne Rooney said he has been sleeping overnight on the couch in his manager’s office as he works overtime to bolster Derby’s threadbare squad. Derby registered three players with the English Football League in time for their Championship opener at home against Huddersfield on Saturday and Rooney remains hopeful of further additions.

[...]

“I’m hoping we can get them done,” he said. “I know some of them have other offers on the table. I need to keep working to try and get them in and I will do that. I slept on the couch in the office last night [Thursday] and I’ll be sleeping on my couch again in my office tonight, trying to get these players over the line as quickly as possible so that we don’t lose out on them.”

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/jan/02/the-wayne-rooney-paradox-he-should-avoid-any-club-that-wants-him

On the other hand, any assessment of Rooney’s capacity as a manager has one key flaw, what we might call a Wayne-22 situation, which states that Wayne Rooney has only ever been employed as a manager by the kind of board that thinks it’s a good idea to employ Wayne Rooney as a manager.

This is the basic paradox here, the Wayne-as-Groucho scenario. Any club that can weigh up all the facts and still conclude that Rooney is the answer: this is exactly the kind of club Rooney should avoid like the plague.
