I'm shocked that a bit of tempo and fight from sunderland in the second half was enough to completely derail our football.
Before saying we should have buried them and we were unlucky not to win, you've got to look at sunderland in the first half, because they were shite, they were the punchbag, we weren't even in a match.
But the second half, that's the test, that's where you see the qualities of the team. Sunderland aren't a world class side and when they fought back in the second half you'd have expected at least a bit of ability to get round that and still assert our game, but that little bit of pressure just took us right out of the game.
It's going to take a lot of time to see whether the likes of Downing, Henderson and Caroll can justify their prices and Kenny's decision that these were the best signings for the money available in the European market.
Personally I have my worries. If I'm genuinely honest I can't help wondering with every big signing what Rafa would have done with that cash. But I hope Dalglish has it right and I'm open minded about the signings.
I wonder what is Kenny's tactical understanding of the modern game compared to someone like Rafa's? Only time will tell again on that one. I'm optimistic, but not ultra confident; there's no way of telling how well Kenny will do now.
What's this management team of Comolli, Dalglish and Clarke? is it going to reap dividends or be a failure? How this whole thing works and how it all turns out is very interesting. None of us can draw any conclusions just yet because the management team as well as the football team is largely untested.
One thing that is unanimous should be that our owners are doing a very good job indeed. They have listened to the fans and given them what they want. At least we can be confident that anyone who manages Liverpool will be backed.
