Now would be the moment I would have brought Aquilani on.... some creativity off the bench. Maybe for Carroll and play Kuyt up top, Suarez and Downing either side of him and Aqua in behind.

Team seems very flat this 2nd half, not sure what has changed but we seemed very deflated.

Along with the linesmen they have kept Sunderland in the game

The thought "that decision was spot on" is yet to pop into my head

Carra needs to stop hoofing. I understand that he wants to avoid trouble at the back, but what we need is someone to put their foot on the ball and calm it down.

Yeah... try to teach an old Horse new tricks... not going to happen.

70:00 Downing tries to play in Suarez who dummies for Kuyt, who missed the run , but manages to keep it in play, but to no avail as Sunderland get the ball back. Enrique gets fouled and Liverpool build from the back.

Suarez and Downing have not been involved 2nd half. Are they winded after the adrenaline dump at the beginning of the game? Raul may be an option to steady the midfield before assuming control once more.

For the goal three players were attracted to one in the corner. Ball back and the Sunderland player has all the time in the world to pick his pass. Flanagan was poor, but so too were the players in the build-up.

As of now our midfield looks very porous, allowing Sunderland to run through at will. Downing, Adam and (previously) Henderson aren't the best defensively.

Everything seems to be one step slower than the first half.

It's been all Sunderland for far too long now. They don't even bother with their right flank anymore they're aiming everything at Flanagan. We could use Meireles now imo to get back control of the midfield and regain some compsure.

If we lose this, it will be a huge injustice from how good our first half was. Just need to get back in that first half mood, moving the ball quickly and getting through the Sunderland defence.

Unfortunately if we lose this it will be our own fault. Not taking the chances in the first half will cost us.

72:00 Lucas gives away a freekick in the middle of the pitch. Sunderland make nothing of it and Kuyt breaks away and plays in Carroll on the ege of the box, gets the shot off deflected out for a corner. Great ball into the box but no-one can get a touch.

Suarez off, was expected really he's looked knackered for the past 10.

All we need is a bit of team chemistry on the pitch. Players not going for the same ball, running into the space when a run is made and all that jazz.

Incredible shoulder to shoulder and Wes Brown goes down and it's a freekick to Sunderland. Pathetic officiating. So sick of it.

Carroll gets a typical "he's big so he must've fouled him" call against him. It's like Crouch all over again

Kenny needs to call Flanagan over and tell him to keep calm. He's all over the pitch and nervous every time the ball comes near him.

He'll take something away from this one day, but right now he's a real danger

I think the main thing in this 2nd half has been the absence of Downing. Doesn't look into the game so much. Also the stop start nature of the 2nd half definitely helping Sunderland!!

I actually think Lucas looks tired as well. We really need a spark. I think Downing should switch back to the left - really put pressure on that side.

We won't be winning this game.

Yeah, I think Kenny made a couple of mistakes in his lineup today starting Flanagan and Suarez. There is still 10 minutes to go and anything can happy. Maybe if Suarez hadnīt missed the penalty he wouldnīt have burned himself out chasing down everything for the next 40 minutes!

and if suarez had scored his penalty and we were winning 2-0 take him off much easier than chasing a winner no ?

But he didnīt, so we arenīt. There is a reason whisky nose often leaves one of his best players on the bench and itīs because of moments like this. Who do we have on the bench to add energy and change the game today? Nobody really? Maybe if Raul and Kelly started then the game is 0-0 at 60 minutes then you bring Suarez on against a tired defence.

All if and buts though.

Downing and Adam have been ineffective in the second half. Of course that can be put down to the fact that they're not in sync with the team but they're just not playing well right now. Jose Enrique's been solid throughout apart from the occasional lapses in concentration.

We need something special right about now, but there's little suggesting it will come. Here's hoping for another Maradona-esque run from Downing
