I somehow doubt it would have happened had Rafa or Kenny been our manager. Even with Spearing and Shelvey as our main midfielders.

My first choice midfield for next season would be

Lucas

Gerrard Meireles

Henderson rotated with Meireles , Shelvey with Gerrard and Jay with Lucas(he has shown it this season he is good enough to play as a stand alone DM). Gerrard and Meireles are not exactly spring chickens and you expect Henderson and Shelvey to make the step up in a few years to become our main midfielders.

I don't know where Adam fits into all this but if you ask me , he is more suited as a part of the 2 in a Rafa style 4-2-3-1 formation , operating as the deep lying playmaker with a dedicated DM(Lucas) playing alongside him.

Good to have options but as I've said before , the playing time for some is going to be reduced. Remains to be seen whether if it works to our advantage or we end up with dissatisfied players in the squad.

Go to page 5 I think it is and read my post about Henderson. I hate people who take a judgement of a player, and a comparison and that is what he is. Lucas is simple minded midfielder and grafts - Henderson has technical ability.

Don't judge something you haven't seen, otherwise you feel stupid.

I won't go as far as to say he'll be class. I'm reserving judgment until I see him play. With the lack of easy Europa League matches to blood him in he'll have to be brought on as a sub at first and prove himself. I look forward to seeing what he can do!

Sorry I deleted the table and moved it to the Comolli thread where I meant to post it.

I didnt actually compile the stats so I can tell you for sure. However Spurs already have 2 players in the top 15 for chances created and they scored very few goals during the season. It would be somewhat strange if they had 3 players creating masses of goal scoring opportunities and still couldnt score.

As for Giggs he only played 25 games and many as a substitute. So he didnt really have enough game time to be a leading player in terms of creating chances.

I really like Jordan Henderson.

His stamina and flair are his best attributes, both at 16 but in a few years will be closer to 20.

His pace, acceleration and crossing are at 15 but his crossing will only get better with time.
