Charlie Brown is easily their most catchy song since Clocks.

So it came out yesterday and i must say i think this is the worst coldplay album they have released!

id say out of the 14 tracks only a few are worth enough the rest are just crap!

5/10 for me!

Disagree slightly. I think it's a lot more upbeat with more catchy songs. There's no song on there that's going to be memorable in ten years time like a 'Clocks' or 'Fix You' but on after a few listens I think it's impressive!

Are Coldplay really a band?

I thought they were some sort of elaborate practical joke.

They should go back to the acoustic sound of Parachutes, everything since has sounded too contrived.

My list of albums by preference is:

Parachutes
Rush of Blood
Viva La Vida
X&Y

I'm waiting for my copy to come through the post while I'm on maternity leave to see how it rates.

Only listened to the new album a couple of times. Not hitting me like Vida la Vida or any of the others really. Hope it grows on me like X&Y did.

Although the first song to me sounded like Arcade Fire - or Coldplay trying to do Arcade Fire

Agree with this.

When they got big, particularly over the water, and started selling out stadiums they seemed to think "Shit, we need to be a stadium band now".

Que a few albums of trying to write big epic songs to fill the space and annoying gimmicks like the fluorescent shite they have now or the military get up they had for the previous album.

Gone are the days of little tunes like 'Green eyes'.

Like so many bands the bigger they got the harder they tried. Its forced now, has been for a while.

Nowhere near as big a fall from grace as Kings of Leon. But a fall nonetheless.

Well he said they'd still tour but no more new albums.... then said the may still do some collabs and stuff.

I'll believe it when I see it to be honest. Think it'll last a few years before they end up doing something new.

It's weird how things work out.

On May 30th 2000 I went to see Muse at the L2 in town. It turns out this unknown (to me at least) band called Coldplay were the support. Anyway, Coldplay were absolutely brilliant and had the Muse audience in the palm of their hand. Talking with people in the weeks afterwards I mentioned Coldplay and pretty much everyone said ''never heard of them.''

Not too long afterwards Coldplay were suddenly massive, and there in the audience at the Royal Court on October 6th 2000 were lots of people making out they'd been into them for ages.  ::) People I'd mentioned them to after the first show I saw them at had suddenly forgotten that it wasn't so long ago they told me they'd never heard of them.  ;D

I think I've still got some promo stuff of theirs from the Muse show that they left out on the bar in the L2. I might dig it out and see if it's worth anything. Anyway, for that one album I thought they were great, but I just can't listen to anything they did afterwards.

I thought they were supposed to have packed in a few years ago and then changed their minds
