Since Valero left he's been a little bit more shaky than usual, however I wouldn't swap him for anybody and I'm sure he'll nip these mistakes in the bud before they have a hint of becoming a problem.

I've actually read a post saying trade him for Vorm as Dutch keepers last longer than normal ones.
Cringe

I must find this post.

Posts.

This was 5 years ago. Nice but still 5 years ago. Trade him for Vorm..

Dutch keepers seem to last longer than "normal" ones... I love Pepe dearly but he's not as solid as he used to be and not saving penalties anymore, which is one reason I started to love him in the first place...

Not if every second shot that gets pass the defence goes in. Reina is not doing it for me this year, or the last. And please don't question my faith, heart, tolerance, truthfulness, sanity, eyesight or commitment to Liverpool FC on that. Reina is not the best keeper in the country now and he's not the best in his home country either. European and World Champions medals without ever having to play a single game. Zidane's headbutting is more recent news than Pepe's last brilliant save...

Fortunately I'm taking a posture of neutrality these days and letting others get on with it.

I've too often found myself rolling up my sleeves and getting stuck into these people in the past.

Pepe is still boss. It was an awkward shot that he simply misjudged. Its not like Cech or De Gea who look terrible, and I've seen Hart make mistakes this season, Schzzneey too. Friedel seems in the best form.

While that isn't his first mistake this season, it is absolutely ludicrous to propose that we replace him.  He's a fantastic keeper.

Reina has bailed us out so many times that he has more than earned the right to make a few mistakes. Certainly those who are suggesting getting rid of him have forgotten the days of "Calamity" James and the Westerveld/Dudek tug of war... Finally we have a world class reliablepair of hands in goal and we should appreciate that instead of wanting  o ditch him in favour of the latest flavour of the month whenever he turns out to be human after all and makes a mistake!

Haven't read the recent pages (stuck for time) but if anyone is seriously suggesting we sell him, then they're fucking simpletons, as simple as that. And yes, I am aware he's made game changing/losing mistakes this season (3 in total iirc) but there's few keepers out there better than him even when not at his best. Talk about overreacting, ffs.

He made a mistake and he is a brilliant keeper. Suggesting that we should drop him is ridiculous... And let's also remember that Downing had an opportunity to put us in front just couple of minutes before and it could have been a totally different game...

It's unfortunate that he had an offday and a match to forget. Manchester City did their homework for the 2nd goal. We look uncomfortable with corners especially when opposition attacks near post

I cant believe people are crying to sell him. Just how fucking fickle people are.

And all those who want us to sell him, who should we replace him with? He has been a world class keeper for 4 years now and you dont replace a world class player just because he missed the flight of a ball. Give him a break.
When in doubt, toss a coin. Not because it will help you take a decision, but because for the moment coin is in the air, you'll know what your heart truly wants.

This thread is absolute madness, it's full of people criticising posts that don't actually seem to exist!
Anyone who says Pepe should be replaced is indeed an absolute weapon, but those posts are few and far between (the lunatic who suspect package quoted I'd like to think is a one-off) and I don't think it's unreasonable to say that he's having a poor season but is still a great keeper who'll bounce back, which is what the majority of people who are 'slating' him are saying.

He's made a fair few errors this year. But no more than any other keeper.

Anyone suggesting we get rid is shocking.

Who exactly would we replace him with of anywhere near an equivilent quality?

he made amistake for the first goal(maybe slight deflection?)

made a world class save(scored from the corner)

the guy is still in the top 3 goalkeepers in the league if not the best in the league.

every club in the premier league would love to have pepe in their goal.some people need to take a reality check.

2-3 mistakes all season and already people want him replaced, grow up

who said we should get rid? i dont think anyone said that

he had a bad game, its not his first this season though. I dont expect from him to make 20+ saves per game, because that would mean our defenders are awful, and of course they are not...he have to save 2-3 shots per game, thats what you expect from top keeper in the top team, and so far this season he's not doing that...

he needs to slap himself really hard  and concentrate

Guys... to be fair, those stating that he should be replaced is the very small minority. In general, it shows that Liverpool fans are not fickle. Its like 1 of them vs 10,000 of us. Let's not discredit Liverpool fans as a whole.

Having said that. Reina is still boss.

The criticism is a huge compliment to Pepe and totally understandable, yet unfair. If the moaners come out after two mistakes it shows you what a cracking 'keeper he's been for six and a half seasons.

The only "mistake" was Aguero's. Toure's header was debatable. Should of saved it, but isn't really a "mistake"

IMO the Aguero goal wasn't as easy to save as most have said, as well as there being the wicked dip on the shot just before it reached Pepe, there also a very slight turn inwards before that, meaning not only did it divert under his body but also away from his gloves.

I think Dirk deserves an awful lot more criticism for the goal, what he did was criminal, think he was trying to flick it through a City players legs, one of his many moves he often tries that never work, along with his flick down the touchline that always smacks straight into the fullback.

Not making excuses for the error, though I will always make excuses for our wonderful goalkeeper, but the ball was changed on three occasions in the first fifteen minutes, could that have had any effect on Aguero's goal?
I got the Lucas thing wrong. Will be right on Henderson though. Play him RM, play him CM - Not good enough and never will be.

All keepers make mistakes, the great ones make the fewest. Denying he does however does the man no favours and as you could see by his face straight after he was the first to admit it.
