BMI is an indicator for people of average build...
Ino, people just put to much emphasis on it, when really the only important thing is the fat clippers.

Sticking quite easily under 14 stone now (well over a stone down from where I was) but looking to tighten up the belly. My knees are a bit fucked so looking for good ideas for exercise that will fit in a busy working day.

Is cycling to/from work an option some days?

That's why I ignore bmi. That and the fact I'm a fat twat ;)
Good man!

Bmi sucks

I've lost over three and a half stone this year, but I've still got some way to go really.

The difficult bit is that I just don't have time to exercise unless I get up at 5am or go out after 10pm....I think not.

I have a bit of a problem with clothes, my trousers are too big for me but I haven't got enough ready cash to buy nice new ones.  They nearly fell down at work the other day..the shame.

What is worse is that having seen VdM's twitter avatar, I now seem to look exactly like him.

Seriously, I thought it was a picture of me, confused the hell out of me.

If that isn't a good reason to eat cake or get a wig then I don't know what is.

That's partly my problem. I've got the money though, but I'm unemployed so I might wait til I need an interview outfit.

I've managed to go from about 110Kg two/three years ago to 85Kg now, which is pretty good (I'm 6ft ish).  Still need to lose some more, especially around the ol' gut region.....there's a distinct lack of toning in that area, shall we say.

Considering starting Pilates or something like that.....try and improve my flexibility to allow me to exercise more often.  Feel like I need more days doing nothing, to recover from the days I run around a bit, than I really should.  If anyone knows of a particularly good Pilates workout, preferably one without Ryan Giggs or some annoying soap bint....

Is cycling to/from work an option some days?

Too far for a daily commute - a friend of mine does it but he's a bit mad that way. I started using the Boris bikes around London and they are really good for general fitness but my key-fob was faulty and I need to get a new one. I thought about one of those commuter bikes but I think they make you look like a complete knob.

It's the stomach that I want to tighten up - does cycling do that? I can feel general fitness improving and in the legs but don't feel anything around the middle.

3 weeks completed now and the 4th weigh in just revealed I'm down again to........

17st 13lb

Much the same as the previous weeks cooking everything from fresh but I was only able to get the gym once last week and I still had approx 8-10 pints of cider on Thursday night and 10 over the weekend.

I'm happy with the way its going and I'm planning on halving those pints this coming week any going the gym 4 times starting when I leave mine to be in there for 7am this morning

:)

I've gone from 110 kilos to 98 kilos since October last year. What I've done is to eat more low fat meat, more fibre (lots of veggies with high fibre and only bread with complex carbs in it) cut down seriously on the white bread, white pasta, white rice and boiled potatoes and reduced my sugar intake. I've not gone completely "no carb" crazy but I try to keep away from the simple carbs. On top of this I've taken up running (a thing I thought I'd never do after playing footie for almost years and HATING the running-without-ball bit) and I now run 7-10 km's 2-3 times a week + I have a job where I deliver beer kegs + beer cooling equipment which is somewhat heavy as well. My plan is to get to appr. 90 kilos and then start to eat in a way that'll keep me there...

Your strategy on food is almost exactly the same as mine - not doing anything drastic, just some substitutions to better options. Want to be eating meals that I enjoy and will continue to enjoy, not going on some crazy fad diet.

I feel cheated by the gods of diet.  Did 62 miles on the bike doing the Liverpool Chester Liverpool yesterday.  Did it at a bloody good pace and Runkeeper reckons it burned 4300 calories.  Reckon I consumed 500 cals max in drinks on the day....   and not a flicker of movement on the scales as yet.

Nice cyclists tan though ;)

About an ounce under 15 stone this morning, so it took me 2 weeks to reach my target of losing 1/2 a stone. I wanted to do it in a week but it's proved harder, defo an age thing.
Haven't eaten any shite for 2 weeks and have cut down on the drink, been walking on my days off. Need a new spool for my strimmer so I'm just about to set off on a walk to Taskers to get one, reckon it's about an 8 mile round trip. :wave

Stuck just under 14 stone at the moment. The tricky thing is going to be the lunches and drinks I need to have to get new business. It's easy eating at home when you're in control but had a family occasion on Friday and it was difficult to pick out things that would fit in with what I'm eating.

Did you weigh yourself at the same time of day both times? It can have a significant impact on your weight. Plus pre and post poo can affect it :wave

A great thing to snack on is them slices of turkey or chicken from asda in the packets. 20 cals a slice and pure protein, no carbs watsoever. I hear pro bodybuilders just eat packets and packets of them whilst cutting.

Has anyone done, or doing any of the low carb diets? There's plenty of info online but I think it's best to pick the brains of people who have been succesful at it. I know there's a 2 week adjustment period and then you gradually introduce a certain amount, but what about stuff like Wine, Ketchup, etc, and did you have any bread at all?

You're breath will stink on a low card diet.

You cant go wrong with a calorie controlled diet with exercise.

Not too fussed about bad breath. I eat fairly healthily anyway and I've cut out most crap. The od bottle of win or 2 on the weekends. I also do plenty of walking but I can't seem to lose the excess. I've been told the weight drops off fairly quickly on the Atkins

For the past 10 days iv been on a virtually no carb diet. Had to be drastic cause iv bulked all year round, going away on the 27th so from the end of last month i had a month to lose around 6 pounds of stubborn fat. No bread or sauces and only 1500 cals a day, only time i eat carbs is pasta before i get in the gym so i can keep lifting. Its horrible, always feel really tired and irritable.

Not too fussed about bad breath. I eat fairly healthily anyway and I've cut out most crap. The od bottle of win or 2 on the weekends. I also do plenty of walking but I can't seem to lose the excess. I've been told the weight drops off fairly quickly on the Atkins

2-3 years ago, I started on the atkins-style. More or less cut all carbs from day 1 (no bread, rice, pasta). Cheese and ham for breakfast, chicken/meat for lunch/dinner and cheese/ham/some salad for evening. eggs & bacon during the weekend and also cut the drinks for a while..

Not sure if its individual, but was wondering what the hell was going on as the kg's just dropped dramatically..

Got fed-up in the end as didn't plan the meals good enough. There is a limit to how much eggs/bacon and chicken you can have (and really started craving for bread), but as a shock diet its beat most things I assume..

I had no side effects as I could understand, but my neighbour got a minor heart attack during his period. Could be unrelated, but I guess too much in a short time can be pretty rough for the body..
It’s not even about individuality, it’s about the team. Our game was based on his controlling of the tempo. Squeeze the life out of the opposition and then strike. That is our game. Like a pack of pythons.

Its horrible, always feel really tired and irritable.

I assuming that will improve though once you start to introduce more veg and salads?

Don't think I'd get bored with proteins and there's plenty of good recipes online now. It's just the bread and sauces for me. Don't think I could eat a fry up without a bit of brown and a couple of rounds of toast, though wouldn't a couple of slices count to your daily intake? Tea and Coffee are another I'd miss but I suppose there's decaff

what shoes are you wearing?

just a pair of nike air trainers.

took the plunge today and started again, 2  mile walk and can't believe how unfit i've become. Tipped the scales at 19 stone, the heaviest i've ever been. Need to do something drastic.
Frankly if your team is mentioned in a Liverpool song, you should be chuffed
