Good luck with that

I'm going to be up early as I don't fancy them after the postie has forced them through the letterbox.

I didn’t see the game but don’t think you can read too much into it, especially the 2nd half half. Seems like NZ had a good cutting edge and eased up a bit 2nd half.Only France can trouble them in that group so as long as they beat them it doesn’t matter if they win all their games by 1 point or 50 points really. 6 tries was it? Can’t argue with that.
nope, you can't argue with that.

Tonga were too loose in the first half and the AB's fucking murdered their mistakes, it was clinical  and impressive in the first half.

but the second half was both a different story and the same. To be fair the Ab's should have had more than the 2 tries they scored, but for some excellent scramble defence by the tongans. The concern for the AB's for me, in the second half, was once woodcock went off, their scrum creaked. The tongans spent 10 minutes on the AB's line, forcing penalties and requesting scrums and finally got a very well deserved try. Other, far better teams, will be looking at that second half performance by the AB's forwards with interest.

It's the first game, and like you say you can't read too much into it, but i was impressed with the AB's clinical finishing, but also with the heart and pride of the Tonga lads.

Motm - it's a toss up between Kahui and Kaino for me, with Sonny bill williams pretty close too.

Blimey the French look well up for this one!

That's 3 lightening quick breaks, the last one resulting in the first try. The Japanese are going to have to tighten up or this could get way out of hand. French looking to make a statement I think.

Gaaaah unlucky japan! Some nice hands until they try to force it wide in the french half, interception run all the way back, second french try. Not long after a missed Jap penalty as well (that really shouldn't have been missed)

Try for Japan! Fair play, well worked from their number 10, despite getting a huge slice of luck. Tried a low kick through a couple of meters out, deflected back into his hands by a french defender and exploits the space and confusion to go over. They've been very spirited the Japanese, fair play to them, got some reward.

No sooner do I finish typing, the french go down the other end and score a clinical try int he corner. Very well taken, good hands and quick ball.

25-11, converted penalty for Japan. I've been impressed by them this first half, some very ambitious back rugby at times, possibly a bit too much, which leads to mistakes, but fair play, they've taken it to the french.

Japan playing really well. I'd love an upset here! Would make France look silly for assuming they were guaranteed to go through and planning for a B-side against the All Blacks.

Did anyone see the Scotland game? They were losing with 12 minutes to go apparently. Were they poor or Romania better than expected?

I've been to this North Harbour stadium by the way. Saw a NZ v Samoa game there...double hakatastic!

Watched a little of the second half. Romanian forwards were pretty impressive from what I saw. Hope they continue to play to that strength.

Bit of both to be honest the Romanians put up a great performance from their forwards which gave the Jocks a shock. There's been 3 cracking games so far today the Fiji - Namibia games was closer than the score suggests and Namibia did well to come back into the game after a few silly mistakes.

The scots were getting battered at one stage, it looked like they could lose. Fair play 2 quality tries at the end saved them. Sounds like France struggled as well. There will be a big upset somewhere in the groups, got a feeling it'll come from Georgia

They're top seeds in this group but it would still be seen as an upset I think. Not a huge one but guess England are favourites. Just my inbuilt arrogance!

Jill, just thinking we lost to NZ in 91 and still made the final but still, think we need to top the group to have much chance of going far.
