Reina is a great player and nobody can deny his commitment to the club in the past. It seems evident that Pepe is far from happy under the current regime, and he is certainly not alone in his thinking. I think the majority of fans if given an ultimatum, Pepe or Hodgson? would vote for Pepe and we can only hope that the owners take note of this. Player power is a phrase that is bandied about a lot these days, but is not a new phenomonen. I can remember the days when Souness took over and tried to implement some of the things he had learned while playing in Italy, some of which became commonplace in todays game. Some of our senior pros, among them some of our most succsessful players of all time were having none of it. 'Injuries' soon became commonplace and some great players who still had plenty to offer, were shipped out and replaced by average players. The fallout from that particular war was felt around this club for a very long time.
We are just emerging from the most turbulent time in the history of the club and it seems to me that Roy Hodgson is always going to be tarnished by some of the scandalous goings on that took place during the death throws of the last regime. It is imperative that the new owners get things right for the future of our club and some crucial desisions need to be made. John Henry has already stated that he wants to hang on to our best players, but he has also said anyone who doesn't want to be here can go! I sincerly hope that when the dust settles we still have our best payers including Reina and Torres and we have a management team in place that has the support of the players and the fans.
