A bit in line with our season so far, really. Emotions always run strong this soon after a sad loss, so i'll keep my opinions to myself for now. Of course, a lot of the blame falls on Kyrgiakos here. Two big mistakes in the last few minutes. I can't understand why the game was so open in the dying minutes. Lyon weren't even pressing our defense that hard, so we should have just kept the ball. Leaving a game too open is a mistake I thought Rafa would never make.
Well on Babel for the goal. It was a screamer, but his flubs afterwards clearly indicate the frustrations we have with him. It is interesting that even with such an injury crisis, he wasn't a starter. Also, if Torres was too injured to play more than 60 minutes on Saturday, how could he last 87 today? And if he is gonna last 87, why not just leave him on? I doubt Cris would have been that high up the pitch had Torres still been on.
We didn't look too bad, all in all, but I did not see the amount of determination that I would have expected. Funny thing is, we can still go through. If we don't, this season is dead and gone before christmas. With nothing to play for, I don't see things improving. Knowing us, though, we'll probably hit a fine run of form in february and finish 3rd, but that does us no good. treading water.
