He deserves a lot more than 18 months. Any normal person with that kind of record would, i dare say, be in jail for at least 4 years, probably a lot more. The guy is just an animal. If he was just some kid and it was a first time offence then I'd have some 'understanding' of what he did, but he's done it time and time again. It's unlikely to be his last offence. He's a 29 year old man. He should be mature and know better by now. Unfortunately he's obviously just lived a life of privelege and doesn't give a fuck about any other human being.

I'd be disappointed if he were to get released after only 9, given his disturbing list of priors (violent ones at that).

A friend of mine was given 18 months for felony assault (or first-degree assault?)...not sure if there's an exact equivalent in the UK... But anyway this was a case of one man (my friend) confronting another outside his residence because the cock had stolen thousands in dollars from him. To say my friend won the fight would be a big understatement, but hey, he'd never been more angry with anyone before in his life.

It was his first violent offense as he's not a naturally violent person. He was also a university student at the time and began his time on Christmas Eve of all days. Still, he served out his time like a man and just as well was a model inmate, never got in trouble, etc. Still, he did a full 14 of the 18 months, and has never been in trouble since. Not that what he did was right, but it'd be a shame if people like Marlon King who can do something like that to women can be let out after something like 9 months given his history and violent tendencies.

He'll be the poster boy of violent offender recidivism.

He got pushed into saying King should never play again, yet he seemed to know King had a long prior when Whelan agreed to sign him. When Barton was brought up, he wasn't so vehement. Why after one more offense would someone not take a chance on a proven goalscorer with a violent past and new rehabilitation?

When you look at Stevie's fight, 18 months for a broken nose (albeit a woman's) seems unfair unless his priors had summat to do with the sentencing.

I predict he plays in the Championship and back in the Prem if he does well.

Hard time changes a man and stars are well treated in prison.

To make it unambiguous, talking about sentencing Stevie overlooks one little pertinent fact. He was found not guilty and hence was never sentenced. Because the jury of his peers found him innocent.

I know it's pendantic, but the UK justice system tends to convict people first before the moaning about the sentence starts.

18 months isnt long enough in my opinion. Not even taking into consideration his prior offences, he punched this young girl (all of 5' tall to his 6') so hard he actually knocked her two friends to the floor along with her. Had she knocked her head, instead of 'just' smashing her nose, he could be looking at a manslaughter charge.
