Typical derby so far. Lazio have neutralised Roma well as I feared. Hoping for some more life to the game, but Lazio holding their lead well so far.

What a free-kick by Mirko Vucinic. Goalkeeper didn't even move.

Great game and far too open so far for a Serie A game.

Doesn't Seria A have the highest goals per game ratio out of the big leagues in the last few years? It's not the same thing yes, but I don't think the tag of 'boring and tactical' league is justified anymore.

Roma have won the derby 2-1 and are back on top of Serie A by just a point with 4 games left to play. Lazio are just 3 points above the drop-zone.

It kicked off in the end there. Never a dull moment in that game. I think it ranks alongside the Merseyside and Glasgow derbies in terms of red cards given out in recent fixtures.

It goes without saying that missed penalty in the Rome derby today was the turning point, before that Lazio were cruising. Pity they didnt show the whole fight at the end.

Quality from roma, despite inters huge financial advantage over them, they get on with the job and are going to take them to the wire, they deserve a title they've been runners up nearly every year since 2004.

Great stuff by Ranieri as well today, taking off De Rossi and Totti at halftime while they were one nil down was to say the least a ballsy move.

a beautiful afternoon in Rome.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHk1iMhpEc0&feature=player_embedded

After the match a group of Lazio fans was attacked and one of them was stabbed to his neck, now it seems he's recovering after undergoing surgery. Furthermore, a woman (with her child) was driving by the place where the incidents where occurring and her car was pelted with firecrackers and flares. Thankfully she managed to escape before the car was engulfed in flames. Ordinary stuff in the Rome derby and the authorities have never been able to prevent such incidents from happening. Not all Roma fans should be put in the same bracket but it's customary for their ultras groups to plan and set ambushes to opposition fans, particularly if they support Lazio, Inter or any English clubs. Sadly, the Roman media, politicians and the club itself tend to belittle all this shameful stuff.

As for the game, I think Lazio were brilliant in the first half, they didn't look like a team fighting to avoid relegation, their defense was outstanding, particularly their two wing-backs, Kolarov and Lichtsteiner (I don't get why Reja substituted the Swiss after such a fine display), Dias, Radu and Rocchi. Anything changed when Floccari missed the penalty, he's a good striker but very bad at penalties, it was the fifth he missed this season after failing to convert 4 when he was at Genoa from September to January. Kolarov or Rocchi could have taken it and would have probably done a better job. Roma, or better Vucinic, cunningly exploited the only two chances they had and then clinged on the result as their lives depended on it, Burdisso and Juan are extremely good in the air and they easily dealt with all those long balls that Lazio sent into their box when searching for the equalizer. Yesterday's game was probably the last difficult one Roma had, Sampdoria next weekend could get at least a draw but Parma, Cagliari and Chievo are on holiday already. Of course we have to try to win all the 4 games left to put Roma under pressure but I'm afraid the damage is done, we should blame ourselves for wasting a 14 points lead but also for not converting our chances in the game against them at the Olimpico, that's exactly when they had virtually leapfrogged us at the top of the serie A.

Same here obviously, if they win the scenario will be very dark, all Inter fans would be forced to bear an all summer long media wankfest from the Rai, Mediaset, Sky, Corriere dello Sport, Gazzetta dello Sport (not to the same extent of the others) and would be mocked by a united army of Roma, AC Milan, Juve fans and Mourinho-haters, we would see Totti everywhere (I already have to tolerate the rubbish Vodafone advertising with his dickface, untolerable heavy Roman accent and poor Italian grammar all the time), Ranieri would suddenly become the best manager of the world, the serie A would become again the best and most exciting league of the world and God knows what else but as I said I'm getting used to the idea ;D

Actually Mourinho started complaining after Inter won the derby vs AC Milan so he can't be accused of making all the fuss to justify the team's performances. I agree with most of the things he said and some of them were already pointed out by other Inter managers, the siege mentality is all bullshit.

That's true and I've already pointed this out in some of my previous posts, I also said Roma would be a worthy Scudetto winner but I don't like the way we lost some points, the games vs Bari, Napoli and Sampdoria are the ones that most pissed me off but at the same time, it must be said that had we won vs Parma or Genoa we wouldn't be in such a situation.
