They all went almost as loopy as we did when Danny scored his goal, great reaction that.

That's the highest Crouch jumped all season. ;)

EDIT - Actually it could be a nightmare - he could put Lucas in for the first leg!

Hopefully you won't get a ticket and he'll have one less boo-boy to cope with. The lad's a very good player and has done an excellent job against the big teams this season. I'd be more than happy to see him fill in for Mascherano.

April 14th Second Leg (Away)
LFC - 86 (GD 48)

Again, just finish them off in the quarters, doesn't make much difference with the semis, but it is a bit boring. Question: don't think i can get a ticket, but if there is a chance, does anyone know how to get one or do you have to buy it for al really high price at some sort of sports organisation who arranges these trips?

I hate this circle of bullshit that goes round after draws, and the tired old cliches and call to arms of bravery and belief.

Sure we can beat anyone on our day, that's unarguable. I remember everyone wanking and having the same attitude when we drew the bitters in the FA Cup, the fucking worst draw any liverpool fan would want. Anyone remember what happened there?

The draw is what it is, and it's a fucking abomination of a draw. We're playing Chelsea again, and the reality is that we can win, or we could lose. Instead of going to Europe we're going to London. The games are close and we have beat them twice already this season with the first leg at home, which we hate.

We will lose one of the three teams capable of beating United in this competition at the first stage, who are also chasing them in the league, which could be instrumental to any sort of dip in form domestically. After that, we play Barcelona or Bayern, both of whom are the other strongest teams left in the tournament.

Meanwhile United have Porto, then play Arsenal or Villareal if they get through. The favour is there in Uniteds corner for a defence of the double. ~I believe we are one of four teams that can potentially win the CL this season, but I also see the draw for what it is - absolute shite, and a real uphill struggle with the opposite side of the draw being exactly what we would have wanted. so United will be made up. That doesn't make me negative or such other shite, it makes me realistic. The crux of this season now lies with our choice, and I think we need to decide which competition we want to fully focus on, because putting too much pressure on our resources will cause us to snap and probably miss out in both by a small step.

Having said that, the double for us would be an unrivalled achievement, the fact we claim the titles off United would be the icing on the cake.

When in Rome, we don't lose - aye, that's true, but let's get to Rome first.

What he said. Can we win this comp? Of course we can, we can beat anyone on our day, but in order to win this competition we have to be on top of our game for the next seven while the Mancs don't even have to break a sweat to make the final, and that's tough to swallow at the moment.
£15m? It seems low, but what people have to remember is that the fee is irrelevant.

at least the lads dont have to check the maps to see where they have to play...also a bit of a "revenge" feel for us to "cleanse" poor lad JARs OG at Anfield and losing to fall-over specialist Drogba,,  plus Rafa will be up for out-smarting their Guus Huddink (just his name is enough to give U a migrain!)  just show them pics of the lads walking off after the semis last time..come on, lets have em..IF we play OUR best for the rest of the season...well its just possible...

If Lucas plays he will always get my full support - I would just rather have Mash in there. Lucas's weakness is his tackling and tracking and having Lampard coming on to him I think he will struggle. He plays better with Masc alongside him (like last week) rather than Alonso. Is that his weakness or Alonso's? Not sure. Anyway if he is in lets hope he has a good one :)

Its a harder draw than what they've got in the other half. We like it harder.

We'll look to melt Chelsea in the white heat of Anfield. And then we'll look to win in London too.

I'm just looking forward to watching Rafa vs Guus Part II or III. I think it is safe to say the winner of this battle should be called the best tactician in Europe bar none. Guus is one of the best managers in the world and now he has unlimited resources in Chelsea. Unlike PSV, Guus with Chelsea are really a tough team to play against.

I just hope we don't  make a mistake like we did against them last season, touch wood, and finally playing at home first is really a bad idea. UEFA really don't like us, do they?
doesn't always work that way - it's not just the tactics its the execution of the players.  for example Babel's back heel to Gerrard - was expertly executed ( or at least well enough) the finish wasn't. Does that mean Babel lacked awareness ?

Goodbye & thank you Rafa. You've given us more than we ever had a right to expect from you and you stayed loyal and fought for us even when some of our own turned on you. I truly hope that you find somewhere with the support that you deserve & win everything in sight.

funny how some people are putting us in the underdog role. A local paper here in switzerland started their report of the draw by saying.'seven teams were hoping to avoid liverpool in the quarter finals. the team it struck was chelsea' they have us down as favourites and shows that our form hasn't gone unnoticed

One game at a time. We can beat any of the teams left in the competition.
They should fear us more than we should fear them!
However I can understand peoples anxiety. We have had too many false dawns in previous regimes. Yes we may be feeling the draw has been unkind to us and kind to united but think about when we drew Benfica and what they did to us.
Many will be thinking 'we've done the double over Chelsea this year odds must be that they're due a good result against us.' Or if we do reach the final and meet united then odds our that we will lose simply because of what we have done to them this season.
PLEASE KEEP THE FAITH AND BELIEVE! WE'VE HAD A GREAT WEEK AND WHY CAN'T IT CONTINUE?
If we can steer clear from injuries and bans, why can't we go unbeaten until the end of the season. United should win the league, its in their hands, but 'OLD BIG EARS' isn't. I'll admit I want to be in Rome in May and would prefer not to play united. Why? Because of the fear of losing. Imagine them boasting about equalling are 18 titles and being one european cup behind us!
However with Rafa settling his contract this week and hopefully Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb to depart in the near future I honestly believe that 'times they are a-changin.' All we have to do is to believe.
Fergie will be 'laughin tonight' but he's about to be knocked off his perch!

OK, I'll re-phrase it. Which games has Lucas played alongside Alonso where you think he's been poor?
Everton in the FA cup that we lost 1-0 he was poor. Arsenal game 1-1 draw, and Portsmouth 1-0 win are the 3 games where Lucas has started alongside Alonso. Also Villa 0-0 he played with Alonso and Mash. He is not a bad player but is he good enough? Personally I don't think he is now and at 22 he should be showing more. He's solid but not exceptional. Given time he may have potential but can we afford to give him the amount of playing time it would take. Rafa appears to have a lot of faith in him so he must be showing on the training pitch. I have faith in Rafa's judgement so lets see how it goes. Alternativley he could be another Sissoko - worth moving on for a profit to get a better player in - but thats a whole new thread...

There's no doubt we have the quality to beat everyone, but I think we were a little unlucky in the draw. IMO Porto, Villareal and Arsenal are the three weakest teams left in the competition. They're not weak, but Bayern did Sporting 12-1, Chelsea were in the Final last year and Barca are winning the league in Spain. Arsenal beat Roma on pens, Porto beat Atletico on away goals and Villareal beat Panathinaikos. I hope for a miracle from Porto while we do out part.

Disappointed with the draw - Man Utd got their usual blatant fix & whilst I think we have the quality to beat Chelsea, I cannot help but think it's unlikely given that we've already defeated them twice this season. I think a side of their quality have to be considered favourites for that reason as much as anything else...it's just one of those strange footballing quirks, ala our cup wins over Man Utd & Chelsea teams we'd lost badly to in the league in recent years.

If we do get through? I hope it's Barcelona. I think they're the sort of team we're built to dismantle.

You know if I was a Manc I'd be highly embarassed that my club hadn't already amassed about ten European Cups, they get the easy route every, single year. Is it too much to ask that we for once don't get drawn against either another English club or a top European side? It would be nice if the pressure were on someone else for once.

That said, Liverpool don't win things the easy way, leave that to Man Utd.

I'm happy with the draw, contrary to most of the sentiments here. Somehow, our team performs better against bigger clubs so be it Chelsea or Barca, just let them come. The only dark house is Chelsea because under Guus, they seem to have something extra, not to mention the return of Essien whom I admire.

My hope is for Arsenal and Mancs to get through and let Arsenal beat the Mancs and we beat Arsenal in the final

I'm sure if we'd have gotten a "lesser" team in porto, we'd be worried about not being the underdogs.  Let's just remember that the press looks at chelsea, barca and the mancs as the front runners, but we know how those teams feel about playing us.

We'll turn it up, and it will spur us on in the league as well.
