At last we boss them and win, instead of conceding shite goals after playing the better football over the whole game.
Babel is a fucking belter!!!

Well impressed with Riera, things are looking good at Anfield.

Kuyt's misses shows the difference between him and Nando. Both have good technique but Nando just has that killer instinct that all WORLD CLASS striker needs. Not dissing Kuyt BTW as he had a really good game.

Poor start with the mental fragility we've shown in the past two seasons against Man U all to apparent until we get a gift, the type of which Dudek often provided to Utd. Utd responded impressively for 10mins unlukcy not to score with Tevez firing just over. But after that, inspired by the excellent Riera the players actually started to take the game to Utd looking galvanised as opposed inhibited by the white hot atmosphere in these games. Keane should have scored after a good move 1st half and we were largely on top.
We continued to dominate second half, but unlike against Villa, the substitutions from Benitez were spot on and we went on to win.

We all wanted Babel to come of age this season, and while he has played a small part he has made the decisive influence in two massive games which will largely shape the first part of the season.

Totally agree with Carra hopefully this will give us the belief we show in Europe in the PL.

United were second best today, we were so well set to deal with their (many) threats. Once we found our feet Rafa's high-tempo game-plan worked superbly.

They're playing catch-up now. However, at some point this season they will find their form and will pick up wins for fun. We have to capitalize on their indifferent form while it lasts. We need to get distance between them and us in the league.

That was awesome football by us and that too without two of our best players on bench. Riera-Aurelio partnership was amazing and Babel showed his talent again.

Well done REDs

Well done Rafa

Superb display particularly 2nd half which is as good as we've played under Rafa, Riera had a fine debut and linked up well with Aurelio, Alonso and Mascherano were superb in midfield and completely ran the show, Kuyt as ever never stopped running and looks so much more comfortable playing in the 4-2-3-1 system than he does in 4-4-2 and Skrtel (my man of the match) and Carra were imperious at the back, great cameos too from Babel (thankyou Ryan) and Stevie G.

Anyone who find negatives with that performance today, seriously needs to go and boil their heads in a bucket of shite.

The big thing now is to win against Stoke next week.

If we beat Stoke next week then we open up a futher gap over Chelsea or United because they play at the Plastic Flag Dome next week.

Doesn't matter in the slightest that they're playing each other and we can open up a gap - a gap in September means fuck all. The big thing is to win games, full stop. Not least this one, which you were happy to take at 1-1. ;)

Stop whining : https://spiritofshankly.com/ : https://thefsa.org.uk/join/ : https://reclaimourgame.com/
The focus now should not be on who the owners are, but limits on what owners can do without formal supporter agreement. At all clubs.

YEEEEEEESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :D :D :D

When they got the first one after three minutes for some strange reason I knew we could do this today and from there on out I enjoyed this more than any game against the Mancs in years, and boy, we got the right result! And more than deserved it as well. Happy happy day!!!!!!! :scarf

Oh, and by the way: I switched from UK commentary to the German one about two thirds into the first half - I found the wanking over the Mancs and especially Rooney was unbearable (I know, what else to expect). The German guy was very enthusiastic when Babel scored, his heart was clearly more with us.  ;D

I wonder how many Manc WUMs we'll get in the thread?...

I've binned Sky so I only saw it on a shit stream with Radio 5 on but we bossed them and deserved it. Good goal by them to start but they couldn't deal with us.

You and me both :D
I am going to listen to all games vs United on the radio from now on.

Last game I listened to on the radio was the 3-1 (Riise Freekick) went to the next 3 and watched rest on TV.....:D

Okay, now I'm daring to believe we can challenge this season.

Awesome to hear (can't see it yet, gotta wait for .tv highlights) that our full backs are overlapping with wingers and making us less predictable. Sounds like Yossi has finally got it together - helps that he's not playing on the left as he is clearly not suited to that position. Riera sounds like a real missing piece of the puzzle. Reina has matured to the point where we finally have a 'keeper who doesn't bottle it against the Ure. Babel is coming good. Masch is better than ever. Same with Skrtel. Alonso is coming back.

IT'S A FUCKING GREAT TIME TO BE RED.

RIERA has an excellent debut today, could have got the goal bar the brown knee.
Kept width, took players on at will,
May not be as quick as Babel but still has a bit of pace on the ball and a trick or two.

Excellent.

We only beat a one man team, nothing special in that...

FUCK OFF MAN UNITED!

Completely bossed the game after the first five minutes, Kuyt should've grabbed a brace but can't fault the work of the lads, never let that shower settle. Riera was excellent for a debutant in this game, Masch is a beast, hope he isn't too badly injured. Yossi had his best game in a long while and the full backs had a good game too.
After the truth comes justice.
