Big Train
« on: March 27, 2008, 07:29:55 pm »
Of my favourite ever sketch shows. Written by Graham Lineham and Arthur Mathews of Father Ted fame and starred Simon Pegg, Julia Davies et al. Loved in, though have never seen it repeated. A few tasters;

One of the funniest things ever. Proof that Linehan and Mathews are comedy gods.

My favourite bits are the ones where the office workers demand their bonus payments and the boss (Mark Heap) keeps distracting them with something and then ends up in a taxi, on a plane etc.

Oh yes, Black Books, there was another one I loved and I don't think many others did. Loved that one where Dylan Moran pretended to be a piano genius.

I loved that show, not seen it for years. I remember some great sketches:

The one where Simon Pegg's idea of motivating staff during a meeting is to strip naked and wear a pair undies made of paper
The Titz
The Bee Gees versus Chaka Khan western shoot out
Simon Pegg collecting money on the street for some sort of anti animal charity "we want to get rid of them, they shit everywhere!"

The Cat & Mouse Punch up sketch immediately jumped to mind.  Big Train was proper funny.

What I liked about the sketches were how well they were acted and if you didn't know any better you would think it was a serious program until the punchline and payoff were delivered in each sketch.

Think I'll watch the whole lot on demand one night.  ;D
