The Bourne Trilogy is ace - mine cost £39 from PlayUSA.  Still not got round to watching The Ultimatium yet, which is supposed to be the best conversion of the lot!

I'd guess at the same time The Hobbit is released, so could be a while yet!

Play.com have got loads of Blu-Rays on 2 for £22, which seems quite reasonable.

Also, "Waltz With Bashir" is out on 30th March and will definately be added to my slowly growing collection, it's made by Artificial Eye, using the same technique as "A Scanner Darkly" so it'll hopefully look incredible in HD.

I'm sure everyone has had that moment with Blu-Ray that has blown away their scepticism. A scene, a special effect; something that has made you sit wide-eyed, mouth open. The scene in Swordfish where the hostage blows up at the very beginning and it surveys the area in a 360 degree angle: awesome. 8)

Yup- loads. Can't remember the first, but the aerial shots with movement or those shots with many objects in are generally amazing. In short, anything Planet Earth serves up! I remember watching Peal Harbour, the camera follows a plane as it flies low over fire and explosions and through a couple of ships- brilliant scene.

Going to check out play.com's offers!

For me it was Planet Earth, specifically the birds of paradise in the first episode.

I'm definitely picking and choosing what I buy on Blu. There wouldn't be much point in your Peep Shows or Curbs, however brilliant they are; but I'm sticking to either replacing classics (Pan's Labyrinth, 2001, Nigthmare Before Christmas) or finally buying a film which had escaped me on disc before now (Raging Bull)- and even then I am tending to check out the link Walshy posted to ensure I'd be justified in the expense.

Anyway, I lost £900+ worth from my collection two years ago, so I have an excuse  :P

The Blu Rays I'll buy are the new films I like or the slightly older ones that I haven't got on DVD but look great on Blu Ray. Although I haven't bought that many of them- only have a few- I d/l all of the HD stuff these days.

Stolen, basically, by my ex-missus' son.

Oh well, if the proceeds meant he manged to postpone his search for meaningful employment for another couple of months, then it's a minor inconvenience...

Dunno if its been mentioned but Head entertainment (aka Zavvi) in Liverpool One have a varied selection of Blu-ray disks at £12.99 discounted by 25% to a very respectable £9.74.

Titles such as Iron Man, Casino Royale, Transformers, Swordfish, Kill Bill 1&2 etc...all look excellent in Blu-ray high def video and in PCM audio

There's loads of Blu Rays (quite a few decent ones) in the £8-10 price range on HMV website.

Blu-Ray makes you watch shit films, just to see how good they look in HD.

I even found myself wondering, on the drive to work this morning, how smart Transformers would look.

I can only apologise.

It looks very, very good. I got bored by the film but it's still on my hard drive in HD, because it looked great when I saw it.

Have to agree with you there, my mate rented "Dragon Wars" just to see what HD quality looked like.

Thankfully, my first experiences were Planet Earth and No Country.  I have a rule of only buying films I really like on Blu-ray.

LORD OF THE RINGS BLU RAY

http://www.movieweb.com/news/NELdbLMOqZZOQL

It seems we might finally get to journey through Middle Earth in high definition this year. The Digital Bits is reporting that Amazon is taking pre-orders for The Lord Of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy in Blu-ray. A street date has not been specified, but it was expected to be a December holiday release. These pre-orders indicate these will just be the theatrical releases, and not the extended versions, but the site's sources have an explanation why.

Sources close to director Peter Jackson have informed me that he's holding back the extended editions for an elaborate "ultimate" box set release closer to the debut of the new Hobbit films - that's why these are set to be theatrical only. Obviously, not everyone is going to want them as such, but they're designed to satisfy fans who want something in the meantime. So simply be aware that if you want to wait for the more elaborate release, you'll get one eventually. Just FYI.

In the meantime, the theatrical BD set will apparently be set with a $99.98 SRP, although Amazon's price is around $70. Take a look at the cover art for the theatrical BD trilogy below.
