A rather nice cover from a fabulous David Holmes mix album from last year:

Cigarettes after Sex's version of the REO Speedwagon classic "Keep on loving you" is very different from the original but quite beautiful I think...

Citizen Cope, who I recommend to just about anyone, did a very different cover for Glenn Campbell's 1977 hit, "Southern Nights". There's a real melancholy to the song that strips away the honkey tonk disco sound Campbell gave it.

Not sure it's necessarily better, but I always liked Japan's complete reworking of Marvin Gaye 's Ain't That Peculiar. Doesn't even sound like the same song.

I agree...not better but beautifully different. I also loved their reworking of All Tomorrows Parties and Second That Emotion....but then Quiet Life is one of my favourite LP's from that decade....much to the disbelief of everyone who knows me ;D

Somehow I recently came across The Power Station cover of T. Rex's "Get It On (Bang A Gong)", which I thought was quite good. That in turn put me onto Robert Palmer and his stuff. I quite like his cover of Marvin Gaye's "Mercy Mercy Me", but they are both great versions.

The late Glen Campbell was a pretty great interpreter of other songs.

And even Mull of Kintyre.   I'm serious about this - he makes it a good song. Well, not a bad song at least. He brings it back to the country roots it should have. Plus, you know, bagpipes.

The LP that piece from Yarborough was on a TDK C-90 back in 76...on the other side was Dexter Wansel's Life on Mars. I used to take it into school and play it during my home economics class...I loved those lessons.

TDK, Maxell, think Sony used to do them too. Two albums on a C 90. Happy days.

Well this is one of my favourite songs...  for all it’s 80s cheesiness..

This is a very faithful cover.  Very similar to the original.
“Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
“Generosity always pays off. Generosity in your effort, in your work, in your kindness, in the way you look after people and take care of people. In the long run, if you are generous with a heart, and with humanity, it always pays off.”

And all the world is football shaped, It's just for me to kick in space. And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste.
