I don't know about better as Gil was a genius,but it was Phillips album that turned me onto his work after I got the album this track is on.I've still got the lp,it must be 40 year's old.

Also, check out Mike Masse and Jeff Hall. They do a lot of great covers, the likes of Beatles, Elvis, Eric Clapton etc. They do them a credit.

Heart have historically done a number of Zep covers over the years and they're usually pretty good. They've been touring with Jason Bonham's LZ Experience recently and Jason has been joining them for the encores which have all been Zeppelin covers. There were even suggestions that Ann Wilson would make a good replacement for Robert Plant if LZ were to tour without him!

This is nothing like the original..which was written by June Carter and is about her falling in love with Cash whilst still a married woman.

Listen to the lyrics and you hear the troubled state of Carters' mental and spiritual state.

And just for comparison the brilliant original version.I haven't heard that in ages..Carter's voice is beautiful.

The original is a classic, so it would be insulting to say this is better, but Sara Bareilles does an incredible job solo on this. Sara deserves to be more popular than she is, way more talented than the Miley Cyruses of the world.

Here in OZ, Triple J (radio station) do a 'Like a Version' segment where a guest artist plays an original plus a cover. The segment's been going now since 2005 so there are plenty of awesome tracks to choose from. Two of my faves are Crooked Fingers' cover of Johnny Cash's Long Black Veil and Chvrches brilliant AM cover Do I wanna Know. Just about all are available on YouTube, check em out...
