Fabio is a deeply beautiful man! Didn't give Ronaldo a sniff and then found time to wrap it up. Him, Torres and Sami were the pick for me today

Best fullback in the league.

Is right.

Loved him since the day I clasped eyes on him.

Marshalled 'the best player in the world' for 90 minutes and scored one of the best free kicks you will ever see.

Come on Azer, time to call it a day and admit once and for all you were wrong all along.

I'm so made up. Aurelio, Benayoun, Arbeloa, all players who you'll immediately say 'are not good enough' and would 'not get into the other big 4's teams'. They've all been fucking brilliant this season.

Aurelio was a bloody good free kick taker at Valencia, and FINALLY he's showing how good he can be with a dead ball. He hit the post against Portsmouth, assisted for Benayoun against Madrid, and finally scores one for us. And a marvelous defender.

For the record, I'd take Benayoun over the Joe Cole's and Nasri's of this world, I'd take Aurelio over everyone apart from Evra, and I'd take Arbeloa over anything United can come up with.
It wouldn't be Liverpool if we didn't do it the hard way... ask Gareth Southgate.

Best free kick you will ever see?

Pushing it a bit, but I agree he's one of the best left back's in the league, certainly more so than Cole, and Clichy (Who relies on pace a ridiculous amount). I think Evra's better on the whole, but only just.

Haha some people on this thread are almost at Torres Gayness when it comes to Aurelio. Tis understandable. The lad is a bit sexy, like. Helps that he's also one of those beautiful, creative, cultured players who are a joy to watch.

Haha, is Azer still alive. He'd be fucking gutted with today's match.

Just looking at your profile pic, and there he is, Fabio, humble as he has always been. You saw how made up everyone was that he scored, and the smile on Gerrard's face.

A true footballer in every sense, and a true Liverpool player. How much did he cost again. NOTHING.

Against shit teams Evra is good.  He gets up against scared sides.  Aurelio is far better when it comes to quality vs. quality.  Rooney turned him a few times, but it came to nothing.  But early on he completely stuffed Ronaldo...along with Lucas (good job, kid).  He needs to take free kicks more often.  This much is obvious.  With Doss playing just in front of him we just might have something here.  It's obvious that Dossena wants the free attacking role.  Could we see him playing more of a winger?  I think so...that's what he did when he scored.  I just wish Aurelio was younger...glad we have Insua as another top choice.

The stats say different ;D

Evra 0 Goals 2 Assists

Aurelio 2 Goals 4 Assists

Indeed...Evra is better than Aurelio.  The mancs are better than us in every position.  Far more quality...that's why they beat us 4-1 to cap a double over us at OT.

Oh, wait...

I didn't say he wasn't, I posted that the stats tell a different story this season.

Aurelio is also a dead ball expert, something Evra doesn't have in his locker, or if
he does he doesn't get the chance to show it.

I'm as happy as anyone about this win, but there's a reason why we've dropped points like its going out of fashion this year and the mancs have capitalised on it. Lest we forget they still have a sizeable lead. With their back-toback titles you have to say the primary reason for that is more quality in the side.

Evra is good don't get me wrong but i think Fabio is better, classier on the ball, more assured in defence and on top of all that a decent free kick specialist, only his injuries stop him from showing that he's a class above, if he had a full injury free season you'd see how he's the best LB in the Prem.

More depth in the side for sure...but as far as man for man in the starting 11...that is debatable.  Their number of 1-0 wins against scared teams is immense, and we've had a bit of an injury bite this season.  We need a few more pieces to the puzzle for depth and creativity to get these wins over shit teams that they've been able to pull out.  If you were to switch our 0-0's against those that park the bus for their 1-0's it'd be completely different this year...something we will rectify, I'm sure.  But doing the double over the mancs and chelsea goes to show that we have a great first 11.

Great performance. Always said that he had the ability to be one of the top left backs in Europe if he could just stay consistently fit. Fantastic player.
