Did they turn up with the postie or in a royal mail van?

Postie - like all the other registered post I get does.

The only time a van comes to my house is if the parcel is too big for a postman to carry.

AFAIK, registered/secured doesn't affect how the letter is delivered you - just what happens if it doesn't arrive. If the postie can carry it - the postie delivers it.

by all accounts, it seems the ballot is going to go ahead. delayed of course. god knows whether the TO have taken any tickets out for us who've had their tickets pinched. I just want to know!!! How long have we waited, five days since my tickets were stolen, and still no idea what the hell is going on.

Incorrect. How many of the ones sent out were bundled together. Our supporters club qualified for about 30 tickets for this final, all of them gone. There won't be 1600 single envelopes.
why does a supporters club qualify for tickets when it should be based on its members loyalty? giving tickets to an institution takes away opportunities for individual fans and smacks of hypocrisy.

My friend is a mate of somebody in the TO - he was getting a ticket off them through their 4 friend and family tickets BUT he's just been told theTO staff have had thier allocation of 4 taken off them due to the stolen tickets

So its not just us effected by this it seems

I'll try and keep this low-key so not to upset any that have been told their tix have been stolen but..

Bought tickets at 5pm on Thursday on the phone. They have just arrived by Spec delivery, delivered by my postie this morning.

They are in block L39.

Panic now over, for me anyway.

I am one of the 1600 and i am now totally fed up, i was going to go to Cardiff on Saturday regardless but now feel that any chance of getting a valid ticket on the day is now in serious doubt, it doesnt look like the Millenium powers to be will do anything about the tickets, i do have sympathy with them as 1600 poor bastards would have to be asked to leave and i cant imagine that would be my cup of tea minutes before the Cup Final, this week is supposed to be the best week of the year all the tension and anticipation of Cardiff but its all gone flat for me and loads of lads, to those lucky enough to have a ticket enjoy the day and when singing YNWA turn the volume up by 1600 times to make up for your mates that are going to be sat wallowing in pools of self pity in alehouses all over the place, Cmon redmen, rafa and the boys lets not let those hammers have an enjoyable day......please for our sakes

Alright all,
Here is some news that may give some of you hope I received the phone call from the Club saying that unfortunately my tickets were in the stolen lot, been sweating ever since this morning postie knocks on my door and hands me my tickets to sign for!!! You could have just knocked me out with a feather. After picking my jaw up from the floor, I phoned the club to make sure that they hadn't been cancelled and the girl I got through to was just as surprised as me that I had them and confirmed that they are valid, the other bit of info she gave me was that FA cup tickets cannot be cancelled and she couldn't understand why this was being said. Now hopefully this may mean that some people who have been told their tickets are stolen may find that they actually still turn up. I hope so anyway.

Seems odd how nobody I can see has mentioned the price of the tickets which have been robbed yet - or am I mistaken..? :-\

Around 2230 hours last night, whilst I was on msn, a friend told me that it had just been released on the radio (dunno which station..) that all the tickets were £90 options..

Is this true? Has anyone heard..?

I emailed the ticket office on Monday and they confirmed my ticket wasn't stolen

Just received another email off them saying if my ticket hasn't arrived to call them immediately and gave me a customer service number(can't get an operator at present)

How do they know my unstolen ticket hasn't arrived?

I've just sent an email to the Office of Fair Trading.

Dear Sirs,

As a Liverpool Supporter I would be grateful to know if there is anything you can do to intervene in the situation many of my fellow Fans find themselves in.

Last Friday a number of FA Cup Final tickets, believed to be about 1,600, were stolen from a Royal Mail van in Liverpool. However, despite the fact that it is acknowledged these tickets have not been delivered, the Fans who have bought these tickets have been informed that they will not now be allowed to attend the match because the Millennium Stadium authorities in Cardiff are refusing to issue duplicate tickets.

I have seen your leaflet about "Unfair Terms in Consumer Entertainment Contracts" on your website (http://www.oft.gov.uk/NR/rdonlyres/B951DDD1-0866-44D1-992E-4F9ADAA5B4C5/0/oft691.pdf) and believe that the refusal to issue the tickets that have been purchased but demonstrated not to have been safely delivered amounts to an unfair penalty and restriction. Since these are tickets that are being issued all over the country and in view of the short amount of time available to take action would it be proper for the OFT rather than individual Trading Standards Organisations to act in this case?

I realise that there are going to be murky issues regarding who should take responsibility for the contracts these Fans have entered - Liverpool FC, The FA, The Millennium Stadium authorities or the Royal Mail. However, unless urgent action is taken to enforce these contracts, 1,600 of my fellow Supporters are going to miss out on their day in Cardiff.

I thank you for your kind attention.

Yours Faithfully

Anthony...

Now I'm not one of the fans waiting for a stolen ticket - I'm just writing as an interested observer so I'll probably get the brush off BUT the booklet I referred to in the email suggests that you should actually contact your Trading Standards Office if you wish to complain so I would suggest anybody with a stolen ticket, particularly those living in Liverpool should contact their Trading Standards Office. (See my PS below)

I'll let you know if I get any response - good luck in the meanwhile!

PS - Autoreply received

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Thank you for your e-mail.

This is to notify you that it has been received by the Enquiries Unit at the Office of Fair Trading.

Enquiries relating to the Competition Act 1998 and the Enterprise Act 2002 will be passed to the relevant branch within OFT.

For standard enquiries, we will respond to you within 10 working days.  For requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act, we will respond to you within the statutory limit of 20 working days.

The OFT cannot give advice to consumers about their particular disputes or assist them to obtain redress. Consumers are often best advised, in the first instance, to seek to resolve disputes directly with the traders themselves. If you need advice about your consumer rights, we usually recommend you contact Consumer Direct or your local citizens' advice bureau.  Consumer Direct is a telephone (08454 04 05 06) and online (http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk) advice and information service for consumers in Great Britain.

This I believe to be the most crucial point of all. How could they cancel these tickets which have no electronic tag i.e. barcode ? This would fully explain the reluctance to re-issue duplicates because in essence the 1600 stolen tickets are still live and as many others have stated it will be almost impossible to weed them out at the turnstiles.

of course the tickets are still gonna be live, it's just a smokescreen. so can you imagine, on saturday there are 1600 fans sitting in these seats, and the stewards decide they are gonna try to get the people out of the ground? I don't think so. I hope the scumbag who nicked the tickets rots in hell.

I think what it means is that they still don't have a clue exactly what tickets have actually gone, so if thats the case and tickets can't be cancelled and no dupes issued this will mean, whoever turns up with a ticket, legit or otherwise will get in and be able to sit in the seat allocated. Bollocks IMO if FA and Millennium Stadium allow this to happen as touts will be the only winners.

Mate just had exactly the same thing.  Been told by the club that his ticket was in the stolen batch and to wait for further announcement. Postman turns up this morning.  Unsurprisingly he is now wearing a smile wider than the Severn bridge.

The tickets might not be barcoded but the Special Delivery Letters are supposed to be under the Track & Trace system!

If the Royal Mail hasn't got a list of which letters were stolen or the if Club can't match the Special Delivery Serial Numbers against names, addresses and Ticket Serial Numbers then you have to ask why?

Don't work for Royal Mail so not exactly sure at what point the tracking starts - do they have to make the sorting centre to be registered first??????  Also did the TO keep the numbers of the envelopes in sequence?

The 1 thing I will garantee is the club know which tickets are with which envelope but pointless is they didn't record which ones were in that van

My guess is the ones being delivered weren't stolen just from the range of stolen tickets - may of been held back for one reason or another and not been put in the batch

Thank fuck for that. My tickets (U33 Row 9) Just been delivered by postie who was probably a bit scared when I opened the door the second after he knocked.

Hope everyone gets sorted in the end..

I got two letters through this morning saying i had been unsuccesful in the ballot.

i sent 3 applications off and got 2 back so im still hoping that the other one is succesful.
can you leave those types of posts in the ballot thread. this is supposed to inform those whose tickets were stolen and whats going to happen

Am i the only one thinking the club dont have a clue what tickets or how many were actually stolen. Hence the reason why no duplicates.
