A lot of reasonable people are making the very fair point that it's a lot of money for a centre back, and that it'll build expectations. However, a quick note of caution for them (and all of us), let's break the chain of stupid behaviour by a vocal bitter minority of our fanbase, and starve their bullshit of the oxygen they crave.
There will be times he makes mistakes, there will be off games. We are signing a human, after all. But let's not allow the bitter agenda driven miseries who 'support' Liverpool to get their claws into this one. We know it's a lot of money, but support him all the same - whether he starts like a Rolls Royce or a Mini Metro. It's what we're here for, to support our team. Not to conduct a financial audit and not to determine who deserves support based on an assessment of current market value. We've seen it with players like Lallana and Lovren in the past, and only one of them has managed to win over the fickle miseries. We had it with Sakho before them, and we had it with AOC in the summer.
Don't be that dickhead that jumps on his every mistake and mentions how much he cost. You would be a big part of the reason Anfield can be such a shit day out these days. Be a supporter, not a 'fan' desperate to land a dig or an I told you so as early as you can. Once he's ours, the fee doesn't matter to us at all.
This is a very sensible post by Classycara on the other VVD thread. Please will everyone read and promise to heed this advice in the weeks to come!!!
