Yes you would think a draw is the strong favourite but there is only one winner in this as we will likely set them a target which is 4 an over they won’t chase that.

Foakes, all the time. He's by far the best gloveman out of the three and if you're not going to contribute with the bat you need to go with who is best with the gloves.

I agree he was harshly dropped in the first place I thought he has a test century and fifty.

Foakes for me too.

Bairstow has had his chance and hasn’t ironed out the rather large wrinkle in his technique he’s had from the start. Until he’s shown he’s worked on that and he’s no longer a walking lbw/bowled through the gate wicket then he doesn’t get back in regardless of how many runs he gets in first class cricket. Much like Gary Ballance doesn’t get a look in because he’s still doing the same things.

With all the fielders on the boundary the smart thing is to try get ones and twos so they have to bring them in abit.

We’ll be ok still it looks like it was a game plan from Root as all 3 have done it I think we will slow down now.

Trying to go crazy from the off felt a bit misguided. I'd have gone for a couple of batsmen who could get in with good cricket shots and lift the pace quickly. Stokes can do that so. I was ok with that call. Buttler would have been better to hold back.

I thought they might have gone with Sibley and Stokes. They have batted the most on this pitch and I know Sibley played a patient innings, but he played the game situation. We'd have seen a different speed to his innings this time. As has been said, working the ball into the spaces is all that's needed.

If we bat twenty at 5 an over then can see us bowling them out in remaining 75 or so

Broad wants a second new ball so they'll want about 7 or 8 overs with that, meaning they've got about 8 overs to get as many as they can.

Once you get over 275ish I doubt they’d chase it. No point going way beyond that if we need tile to bowl them out.
