This is why Root won't ever be a great captain in my opinion. Should've declared 5 overs ago at least. Stokes would've, I'm sure of that.

He’s probably got PTSD from when he declared with a lead of 322 against the Windies a couple of years ago - and lost the game.

Cook and Strauss had the same issue, they were all too cautious with declarations.

So need around 3.7 an over to win that is highly unlikely.

I think 85 overs is fair I think draw is the favourite result but if we can knock 2 down before lunch who knows.

In this game, Ben Stokes has scored 254 of the 443 runs while he has been at the crease (and been dismissed once). He scored his slowest Test century, then the fastest Test fifty by an England opener. What a player.

Honestly he's incredible. Smith, Williamson, Kohli only provide with the bat and in the field sometimes and then Cummings, Rabada and Bumrah with the ball. Holder is currently ranked as the best all rounder in the world and is arguably better than Stokes with the ball but his batting is far weaker than Stokes' in comparison with how good they both are as bowlers.

For everything that he brings for me he's the best player in the world

Absolutely. As an all rounder he really is the best - and I know the rankings don`t have him as that - but he doesn`t really have a weak part of the game. As you say, there are others in the conversation but they don`t have the complete all round abilities of Stokes. People forget that fielding is such a big part of the game and there aren`t many better than him either.
