Missed the penalty incident, but the SG sending off was harsh.

after watching the effort from the players after going down to 10 men.. im optimistic indeed about the rest of the season.

I remember saying that after our opening game of the season  ;D

But yeah, i agree. We looked good, even if we did lose.. We should destroy Blackpool!

Considering the circumstances that was a really encouraging performance.
Hope the lads take heart.
I don't think Webb is a deliberate cheat but you have to question why he gets so many games at OT.
Kelly was excellent and Johnson will really have to fight for his place now.

Even though we lost today, first time I have enjoyed a Liverpool match in ages. Amazing what a change in tactics can do, also looking to attack seemed to energise some of our players.

The form of Torres though, is still a concern, maybe Kenny can sit down with him, and work it out. Kelly was excellent, as was Danny penalty aside, what can you say about Pepe "5 saves a minute" Reina the guys a legend. We need to work on our play in the last third, but hopefully the younger players coming in today will give them a lift.

Finally pleasure to see and hear the interview of Kenny, roll on the rest of the seasson.

What a day for Jonjo Shelvey, great to see him on.

Don't think Lucas was best pleased with his free kick attempt!

Shame we didn't create a few more chances second half, Fabio's freekick was excellent but as a keeper
Kuszcazk knew exactly what he had in mind.

We saw pride and passion in the shirt, a better formation, some truly excellent defending, all in all it was a proper cup
tie aswell but Webb ruined the game with the peno decision.

Our domestic trophy season is over unfortunately but we still have the Europa League to fight for.

Kenny could only offer his tuppence worth today as he said himself, facing into the derby without Stevie is a tough prospect
but it gives someone else a chance.

By the way anyone notice the unfortunate timing when the ITV cameras showed one of our supporters in full voice?

We were so good. The players were up to it(except Nando).
Webb won it for them.

I think this would give us more time to think about the Premier league.Another replay, and Webb would have sent 2 more.6 game bans.

Ref ruined the game for me today. United won by default, a penalty that should never have been. Webb was 25 fucking yards away from the incident, he bottled it.
That aside, I thought Kelly had a great game. A definite improvement on recent performances, and I think we can take a lot of positivity from this and go on to improve recent form. Let's get 3 points at Blackpool and take it from there.

Couple of points really. It's great to actually have a plan B, for starters. Also, it's great to have a manager that has the balls to take Torres off. Finally, we actually look like we're working hard!

A great battling defensive performance - lacked a lot going forward, but that's something we can improve. The fight was back. The fans were united together and excellent throughout. It wasn't an appalling result given the circumstances...

Which leads me away from our twelfth man, and to the Mancs' H. Webb. Consistently their star player. One who stands up to be counted for the big games. Puts in a performance when it matters.

Fuck all those cliches about taking positives from a defeat - Kenny made good decisions, set us up well, and we performed well. Instant improvement in performance.

Manc c*nts could only beat us because of a diving Berbatov, shite referee, couldn't even add another against 10 men. Pathetic.

I can see plenty of positives from that game. I thought the defensive side was much better, Kelly had a great game, a real prospect. Babel looked positive and great to see Agger back in the middle. If it wasn`t for Howard imamanccuntonthefuckinpayrole Webb we might have got something there.

Howard Webb MOTM.

Was all over the pitch, had the assist for Yernited's goal. Bossed midfield, such was his influence you'd think Gerrard wasn't even on the pitch. Was a danger with every set piece of the match and was only let down by his team mates to keep the score @ 1-0.

I thought the Gerrard red card was fair enough. Very silly from Gerrard. But Berbatov dived for the penalty. Honestly don't understand why players don't get 2/3 match ban for diving. Walcott admitted diving to try and win a penalty yesterday. Yet he won't get anything. So simple.

Good performance from us today. We passed the ball around along the floor and I liked the look of our midfield in the first half until we went down to 10 men. Lucas, Meireles and Gerrard interchanging in the centre and Kelly had a very good half. Second half we couldn't really do much about but we kept United from scoring and they lacked any sort of cutting edge which I think we deserve some credit for.

More positives than negatives to take away from the game. We need a win at Blackpool though.

Two shocking decisions? The red card was blatant

De Jong against Alonso was blatant, but we all know what happend there.

By no means was Gerrard's blatant. There should be clear day light when making such decisions in a key match like this.

bear with me as typing on a phone. disappointment in losing but not disappointed with the team. considering how we have been recently outplayed by wolves & bkackburn, to go away to the undefeated league leaders and match them almost the whole bar one dodge penalty I think there is every chance we can finish this season in the top 6. still hate losing to them but confident we will have 6 points end of next weekend.

Massive improvement with regard to effort, team spirit and keeping the ball on the deck.

Was always gonna be hard after we went down to 10 but I'm proud of the commitment shown by the lads today.
Kelly, Agger (my MOTM) & Reina were immense at the back, Lucas put in a good shift as did Dirk but I'm definately optimistic for the rest of the season.

Can't understand why SG when in 2 footed ?  If he wanted to clatter Carrick he should have followed through with his trailing leg - would have got away with a yellow at most.  That rush of blood cost us today.

Disagree. Torres was running to get the ball again, and that, for me, shows that he is up for it again. All played very well, but disappointed for a silly challenge by Gerrard. Well done lads, and a special mention to Kelly.
