What does deadwood actually mean?
Bit of a jump to assume that we are selling However because we can't sell other players.

I find it insulting that posters (not you I hasten to add) describe any of the current Liverpool players as deadwood. Grujic, Wilson, even Shaquiri may not be quite good enough for our dynastic planning but they are good professionals.

If you want to see what deadwood looks like just look towards Goodison (NOT the ground) and look at the likes of Iceland, Bolassie, Besic, Delph - the list is endless. Enough deadwood their to provide wood for every bonfire in Liverpool come November 5th.

He isnt big enough to be a CB. RB he isnt good enough defensively. The odds are he wont do much if he is sold.
Wolves offering over 10m for someone unproven at pro level in insane. They are taking some huge risks in this window.

Jota is also 24, so he's coming into his peak years.

Well as David Amoyal says on the CalcioLand podcast, you can’t look at multiple transfers between two clubs in a vaccum, you have to look at them combined,

As much as I detest the phrase “prem proven” it is an added bonus to have a player that seems to have all the attributes we like (two-footed, eye for a pass, good finisher, dribbler, rapid and has pace) and know that he’s acclimatised to the league and country already.

Always been a bit "meh" about Hoever.

He's shown some talent, but he's got no obvious path to the first team being that Trent is only young and not likely to move to midfield anytime soon (or at all) and we've maybe 2 others ahead of him even if he does. Same goes at CB.

So makes sense to move him on, both for the club and for the player.

Not sure if there will be a sell on fee included, but it wouldn't be surprising if there was.

Part of the Wolves oeuvre is ball carrying at pace. It's not just Traoré either. Some experimental numbers I generated for speed with directness of ball carrying saw Diogo Jota rank fastest in the league, with Raúl Jiménez ranking fairly high too. Ironically, Traoré ranked a way back for this specific measure, which was likely a function of his tendency to stand up to the defender and essentially stalling before moving, but he ranked top in the league for average distance per carry into or inside the final third, with Jota third. Wolves as a whole attempt more actual dribbles (~take-ons) than any other team in the league, and carry the ball for longer distances everywhere high up the pitch right up into the box. This is a team that relies strongly on attackers that can transition through zones with the ball at their feet, as we can see when we look at longer carries for those three players

Jota is noticeably more vocal on the field that Luis was, think it’s because his bark is worse than his bite.

Jota is a player who makes a lot of sense for us at the moment. Still at a good age (turns 24 in December), and has proved that he can deliver in the Premier League.
