When is he playing for Chelsea?

You've not seen the league table this afternoon then?  Have a look at it.

Rodgers sure does like to make these shocking changes to his lineup and experiment ala. Southampton doesn't he? Hope it pays off, but like a lot of others, lost a bit of confidence and will be watching with great nervousness as opposed to "let's fucking twat them!"

No man. Rafa gave Robinson his debut in 2010 and he became the youngest debutant for Liverpool.

I know. You better not be winding me up. Flanagan started against Arsenal. Robinson came on as a sub.
"I was pleased also with Peter Crouch. We have been talking to him, before and after his nose operation, to show more confidence with his heading.

"Now it seems to have worked. Lets say that if he has a few games without scoring again, maybe we should arrange to break his nose again."

Rafa.

It's as if the confidence and optimism has been completely sucked out of me.

He's a young lad and if Rodgers has put him in there then he's impressed in training, but a game of this magnitude against opponents like Arsenal. Fuck me. And the worse part is if we lose he and Rodgers will get slated for it.

Was wondering why we didn't bring Johnson off the field vs WBA right when he took the knock. Kept him on for another 15 min or so.

Johnson is ill not injured.

Just look at that defence.

Of course we'd rather have Johnson starting but Flanagan has got the nod so we should get behind him.

To be fair, we did have Kyrgiakos to shore things up.

He's put a right back in to replace a right back. I have as much confidence in Flanagan as I would in Kelly.

Pretty sure it was Arsenal? Kenny was having a laugh with him to calm him down as well, before sending him on..
It was the "piss off" game.

That was Jack Robinson, he came on and marked Walcott out the game.

What the ...?!
Even if Johnson is injured, Wisdom is on-loan, Kelly is no longer viewed as a RB, Henderson can't be moved there with Allen coming.... Flanagan?! Really?!
In a straight battle between him and McLaughlin for the RWB slot, it is Flanagan who comes on top? In what parallel universe is he the better option?
I really can't understand how BR can ignore McLaughlin like that... ever since the pre-season a year and a half ago. What happened there? Just can't understand it.
That decision is going to cost us the game. Simple as that. Not looking forward to this now.

I hope he does to, but i don't really see what you're point is, Flannagan hasn't played a game for us all season and the last time he played for us he was horrible, so i don't blame people for being worried, doesn't mean people want to see him do badly.

Exactly
Hope he has a blinder but its going to be tough for him

Thinking about it I expect we're planning on sitting deep and compact and countering them a lot as chelsea did midweek which explains wanting a defender in there

Okay, I rest my case. Won't comment on Flanagan until after the game. All these people currently being so defensive will probably crucify Rodgers if he plays poorly.

Flanagan to score the winner hahaha

Its funny the difference between giving an attacking youngster the chance like Suso or Sterling, and giving a young defender a chance.

Although its obvious a lot of people don't rate Flanno, which I guess is slightly understandable. Definitely less responsibility playing in a back five rather than a back four though.

It's not Flanagan's fault he's been picked to start due to injuries and the fact we don't have a back-up RB behind Johnson (obvious hole coming into this season given his Glen's injury problems). Everyone here hopes that he can be solid defesnsively and make use of any space he is afforded out wide in attack.

However, it is clear that he that he is a liability against PL competition, especially a team like Arsenal and Johnson being out affects our chances of a positive result more than any other player.

just because someone says they'd rather have someone else playing instead of him and feel less confident with him doesn't mean they're not supporting him, the reality is everyone would rather johnson play, and would be more confident if he was. Even still i hope he has a good game and we win

Come on guys, Rodgers wouldn't be putting him in the side if he didn't think he was capable. Didn't he have a decent spell in Italy? 3-5-2 is quite common so he's probably used to playing this role.

I'm sure Flanagan will do just fine. Arsenal are at their most dangerous on the counter and I doubt Flanagan will be pushing up much. Maybe that's why he has gotten the nod, Rodgers might want to make sure we defend first and foremost and hope for something from the two lads up top.

All our wingbacks have to do is maintain width and track their wingers. If Flanno and Cissokho keep it simple we will be fine.

All these bickerings will be moot once SAS starts running at the Arsenal defense. Come on redmen, win and go to the top :scarf

Nope, of course not. I hope he is magnificent but I just can't see it. Even if he plays poorly, but we win, I'm not that bothered. But wing backs are so important to winning in this system at both ends of the pitch.

The system we deploy today will be mainly the counter attack, where we will try and get Sturridge and Suarez 1v1 as early as possible with Henderson will support from deep. The wing backs are going to be a lot deeper today, so their attacking influence will be less important than it was last week at home to West Brom - we need them to know how to force Arsenal wide and squeeze the space - it will be more like a back 5.
It's hard enough remembering my opinions without remembering my reasons for them.

Nothing to do with flano, but think they will over run us , Suarez will play most of the game with his head shaking from side to side because of lack of service and we will lose 3-1
What I wouldn't do for a win though

I hope the lad does well but last time Flanagan played, it was against Steve Kean's relegation-threatened Blackburn in 2012, and he struggled against them. He's not used to the role either, our system requires that the wing-backs can be attacking outlets too.

I think McLaughlin is a great talent, but how could he have come in for this game? We didn't know Johnson would be out of this game, he wasn't injured, so McLaughlin didn't travel with the squad and he also hasn't been training with the first team regularly (I don't think so, anyway) like Flanagan has.

I'm not Flanagan's biggest fan, and I feel a bit more nervous now than I did with the idea of Johnson starting, but I'll support him and hope he sees this as a real chance to show that he has a future here.

He'll mark Cazorla out of the game, just you watch :D
