Didnt know you watched the training sessions every day.

Oh I see, we're only judging players form and performance on the training field now? Didn't get the PM! So I guess... No more commenting on players from now on since most of us can't watch training sessions?

What other choices were there? Can't take Henderson out of midfield and Kelly looked unfit when he come on last week.

Why not? Coutinho can slip in there and if he gets injured we can revert to Allen or Albero. If needed?

Even if Flanagan has impressed in training, that's one thing, played at the Emirates against a team of Arsenal's quality is another.

Flanagan vs Cazorla & Ozil. This will only go one way.

Big call from BR, could potentially be one of the best/worst decisions he's made at LFC.

yeah they are both going to be in flannos back pocket  ;)

It's baffling because you wouldn't pick him as a RB considering our options. But as a right wing back? It does not compute as he offers near nothing going forward.

Hopefully Rodgers has seen something that we've all missed.

Rodgers has seen more than any here.
Lets wait till the game is over before crucifying the lad eh

Exactly. We should have just gone with Toure at right back. Henderson offers more going forward and is just as good defensively.
Worked so well against Southampton hey Thog?

Let's give the boy a chance, I'm sure Rodgers is well aware of the alternative to playing Flanagan and has decided to put faith in him, could just be he knows what he's doing.

Having proper attacking wing backs is the key to playing 3-5-2.  And I really fear that with Cissokho and Flanagan it'll look more like 5 at the back with us dropping back and relying on the two magicians to conjure a goal out of nothing.
Wing back is an energetic position and nothing I've seen of Flanagan has convinced me that he's a right fit today.

We will be playing mainly on the counter attack, getting the ball early into Sturridge and Suarez with Henderson having the responsibility to support them. It probably will be 5 at the back for the majority of the game (as I think Arsenal will have a fair bit of possession) and I think that will help shut out the space for their talented attacking midfielders to work in and force them wide. That's what we will be aiming to do, and hit them early on the break when they have committed too many numbers forward, allowing Suarez, Sturridge and Henderson to try and get 3v3.
It's hard enough remembering my opinions without remembering my reasons for them.

That's the secret surprise Rodgers had coming eh?

You're right though, and I think Rodgers will be as well. The temptation would have been to pull Henderson to right wing back and start Coutinho, but I think Hendersons inclusion in the #10 spot is very important for us in this particular game. Sterling would have been another contender, but maybe Rodgers feels a player more experienced and comfortable would be better against a talented attacing midfield. I think he's made the right call, personally, but we shall see.

Hope you're right, I just don't see it. So many possible variations we could have used, and Flanno wouldn't have entered the equation in my book. It's a very strange one and I hope people aren't too hard on Flanno if it all goes tits up. Rodgers though, should rightly be under the microscope.

Wow not confident at all now. Why is he ahead of Kelly?

Because he's playing wing back and not right back. Flanagan is better going forwards.

Rogers seems to be sticking to his tactics, formation and preparation believing that he can stick in Flanagan for Johnson and still go for it.  This seems to be a risky move.  There will be those who are curious why not add Coutinho and move Henderson to outside right.  Nonetheless, I will support the gaffer (as I have not been in training ever) :)  Go you Reds!!!!
