Some shite games on TV for the third round. Outside of ours v Arsenal I don't see why another premier league (Cup) clash should be shown.

I'd say City away but there's zero chance of the Cheats getting a difficult draw.

I think I'd prefer a concerned Premier League team nearer the bottom end, so they rest players for the league too.

This week's League Cup semi-final fixtures will take place with no VAR in operation for 'fairness', the EFL has decided. Middlesbrough play Chelsea at the Riverside Stadium on Tuesday before Fulham travel to Liverpool on Wednesday night.

There is no VAR installed at the Riverside due to Middlesbrough playing in the Championship and, for that reason, the technology will be turned off for all four of the semi-final legs. VAR could have been used in three of the four matches - at Anfield, Stamford Bridge and Craven Cottage - but the EFL has ruled that would be unfair.

Should be the same in the FA Cup, farcical to have some games with and some without.

Home draw ideally.   But if it is away, a league ground I have not been to yet, please.

That's either Ipswich or Coventry out of the two teams already safely through.  Although there's a good chance Ipswich will get promoted, so can get Portman Rd next season.
or
Blackpool/Newport/Bristol City or Rovers out of the teams involved in replays.

Looks like only 2 PL teams went out? Plus a further two after replays.

Means that it's almost 50-50 to get another PL team (or possible/likely PL team after the replays).

Although a struggling PL team might be preferable to a high flying Championship one.

There seems to be a chasm between the PL and Champ this season.  I appreciate Forest, Luton and West Ham were taken to replays but, judging by the highlights, all should have won and will probably win their replays.

I would back our Europa League team to win any non-Prem tie but we'd need to go a bit stronger for any Prem side, particularly any top-half side.

You'd normally get a few PL teams knocked out in the 3rd round (by other non PL teams). Middlesbrough made the League Cup semis but without facing a PL side.

Oddly, only Maidstone and Wrexham beat a higher division team. Other than a couple of potential replay wins, they're the only teams outside the top divisions left in it which is also odd for the 4th round.

I think home or away is more key. Look at the EL group games, we struggled through the away games (losing 2) and strolled through the home games (winning the 3) against Championship level sides.

We'd make heavy weather of any away tie (bar probably Maidstone)  but would beat anyone at home bar maybe a top PL side.

I can't remember the last time we had a comfortable away win in the FA Cup either.

Any guesstimates if our 4th round fixture will be Sat 27th or Sun 28th? Hoping the latter due to work… we play Fulham away in LC on Weds 24th, will that make any difference?

Depends on TV. Also, there's 5 PL games on the following Tuesday. If we draw one of those teams it'd be the Saturday.

As we play Wednesday either side it won't be moved to Friday or Monday though. The Fulham game on the Wednesday you'd think would at least see ITV keep us off the 12:30 Saturday but I wouldn't hold my breath.
