Welsh fans were thrilled with Neco's performances this break but many were saying he should move to get regular playing time, or at least be loaned, which ignores the salient fact that he would not have reached the level that so impressed without the coaching - and crucially, the patience - of Klopp.
Neco was available for transfer in the summer but stuck around. If he'd had a good Euros he may have moved on if the offers came. If he did move on he may be sat on someone else's bench now, instead of benefited from the coaching here.
Trent a difficult player to have to compete with but we need to start using a squad more anyway. The demands get tougher every year, we can't just have a 1 to XI anymore and they play every week. I don't think we've even had our best XI available since lockdown for any game.
Neco made 14 appearances last season and that's with him really struggling for form and confidence. He could have got that to 20+ games otherwise.
If he really pushes on then there's also ways to get him and Trent in the same starting line up on occasions, or Neco could be used as an impact sub (i.e. when pushed forward at Preston).
