Well if she manages to win the case then to pay for it burnley could look to new sponsorship opportunities. They could get the added time announcement sponsored, oops they already do that. How about substitutions, nope i think that has been done. :P

how soft can you get. ok if the player stood in front of her and wellied the ball into crowd delibrately, then maybe she'd have a point.
just as much chance of getting an arm or elbow in face when fans celebrate a goal.

Rockette to sue club

Story by Tony Scholes 5 October 2005

Jean Mills, better known as Rockette, the wife of Rocky, has decided to take legal action against Burnley Football Club following an incident at the pre-season friendly against Malaga.

Just before half time Jean, on her way to the concourse, was struck in the face by the ball as it was hit into the crowd from open play. The injury was treated by the first aid people in the ground but she needed further treatment.

She has suffered with her sight since and the injury has now been diagnosed as a bruised muscle at the side of her forehead and that was putting pressure on her eye. Jean is still unable to drive and thought that she might be losing her sight.

What appears to have upset her more than anything though is the club not even apologising for the incident and this is why she has decided to sue the club in what is believed to be the first case of its kind in British football.

The Blackburn based company who are representing her believe she has a very good case.

why don't the legal companies representing individuals in frivolous suits ever say things like:

"We know we haven't a prayer because the stupidity of our client defies rational analysis, but we'll get our fee anyway."

just wondering...

cant understand why no one has commented on the fact that she appears to be 'known' quite well within the Burnley football community. As suggested by the article from the Clarets website.

She'll lose. As a law student (just 4rt id big myself up for a minute yet) she wont possibly win, as it would lead to football clubs all over the country having to shut down due to the potential liability of having fans.

A few years ago a cricket supporter tried the same and failed so i cant see much success on her part.

Would be a good move, even at this stage, for the Club to show some sympathy with her situation and bung a few quid to her favourite charity or sommat.

well said.  i'm no lawyer, nor a burnley fanatic, but it wasn't as if it was done on purpose.  They can't even get the ball into a 12" x 8" parameter area after a whole 90 minutes of trying, let alone hit a face in the crowd.  S*** happens when you sit near the goal.  The judge will throw it out as it simply was an accident.  (anyone know what player it was?)

Also, anyone notice that her legal reps are from Blackburn?  Who hate Bunley with a passion and vice versa.  Bad derby day whenever`they play each othe.  No wonder they want to sue the a*se off Burnley.

Finally, this is meant to be a loyal supporter over the years.  has she never seen or heard of this kind of incident being done before, anywhere?  The judge should bin it, then the club should ban her for life and see how popular she is in the community then!  ooohhhh, the tongues will be wagging...!
