Although its a harsh thing to say, your opening line sums it up.

If he was a true mate he wouldn't even have considered robbing a grand off you, let alone actually doing it. It looks like he's showed his true colours, I would say you're better off without this type of character as a "mate" - unfortunately its a high price to pay to find out that you can't trust him.

Reminds me of the album by The Streets "A Grand don't come for free", probably worth a listen after what's just happened.

Also I would say, having moved over to Oz about 2.5 years ago its definitely one of the best things I've done, even though i left a load of good mates back in the UK. Sounds like it may be a bit more complex for you seeing as you have a little one over there though...

The lack of 1/2 sizes in shoes does my head in, I'm a UK6.5. There never seems to be formal shoes in half sizes, so I have to choose between crushing my toes in a smaller shoe or the likelihood of losing the shoe from my foot if it's too big. The only shoes I can wear seem to be flats or runners.

Oh mate, I've got reasonably big feet (about a 9) in length, but in width my feet are so wide they don't actually make shoes that fit my length and width together! ALways have to get shoes a size or two bigger than what I actually need and it takes me ages to grow into them!

Forget clown shoes, I get the person that I find irritating shoes!

Know someone who has that problem too, she's roughly a size 5 but wears a 6. It's odd seeing her wear these heels that are miles too big for her, it looks like there's a crevasse between her heel and the back of the shoe.

I'll jump the fcking window when one more person says "Next month, around the 25th, does that suite you?".
My whole holiday/application/job planning went into the bin because some fancy doc is booked for the next month or so.
Usually people go to the doc because something is wrong and they want it to be fixed.
But well... in a month time it will still be very much broken, so why the hurry, ey?

Oh and then the info brochures about threatments.
When you get a shot with a huge needle the brochure says very comforting "It's a little uncomfortable, but it's not experienced as painful". Who the hell thought of putting that into the brochure? Of course it's painful, they are sticking a very big needle in your arm!

I've never understood this viewpoint.

If you want to hear them sing and perform everything note-perfect - buy the album. Concerts are about imperfections and atmosphere. If I'm at a concert I remember it for moments like that - it's all part of the experience.

Your ex and a new fella may take her on holiday but thats just a few days in a different place he can never have what you have with her.Its surely better if he does care enough to want to do that kind of thing better that than your ex being with some twat who dosent care.I've got 8 years in with this and all you can do is really get on with it and make the most of your time make sure there is always a home for her and when she isnt there try and get on as best as you can its shit time mate and you have my sympathy but you have enough about you to make this work best for your daughter because when all is said and done shes the only one that matters.

Cheers mate, it's just killing me at the moment. I've got me best mate saying just fuck off with the baby, and my parents talking solicitors and court, it came to this a while ago we got over it. Just don't know what to do. I know fucking off somewhere is daft but i can't stand the fact someone being there instead of me.

Sorry dont want to be out of line but really with friends advice like that you dont need any enemies nothing good can come of that.Im sure they think they have your best interests at heart but seriously thats a bad idea.It may need solicitors and court eventually (although hopefully not) but is there like a family mediation service nearby that can help first? then if it does go to court you'll be able to show youve tried everything to make it work beforehand.

I know mate, i wont do it. Just hurting at the moment. I might just take a few weeks away on me own. Had a belter day today with the baby, took her too southport on the fair and the new baths, came home to this. Just can't think straight at the moment.
