Question. I'm in the process of making my banner, but it's getting too big, particularly lengthwise.
I have a couple of ideas to shorten it.
1) Narrowing the letters (but will it still be readable from a distance?
2) Turn it into an 8 line, banner instead of 4 lines:
If you can meet with
Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two
Imposters Just The Same
Yours is the earth and
Everything that's in it
And - which is more -
You'll be a red my son.
(which I think a) then makes it too deep and b) adapts the structure of the poem too much from the original.)
3) Stagger the lines so it still reads like the original but narrows slightly still i.e.
If you can meet with
triumph and disaster
And treat those two
imposters just the same
Yours is the earth and
everything that's in it
And - which is more -
you'll be a red my son.
3 is my personal preference, but I'm wondering what other people think...particularly those who've made big banners before themselves.
Thanks.
