ILSA and RAWK have been asked to help out with some research being undertaken by the Football Unit at Liverpool University.
They're looking into the way football fans are policed when travelling abroad to support their team. They're already started working with fans of other clubs in Europe but with our recent experiences in the UEFA Cup last season (e.g. problems at Athens airport, Roma) and Champions League games this year they feel we would have plenty of information and data to help them in their research.
ILSA/RAWK supports this work as it will provide information that actually leads to people making improvements. The researchers have an online questionaire which we'd ask you to fill in if you have time, and feel free to get in touch with them if you anything else to add. We hope to set up a couple of meetings with the researchers as well so that interested fans can relate their experiences.

Your views are important so please get in touch. Please note: We are independent researchers based at the University of Liverpool. We are simply seeking to document as accurately as possible the experiences of fans. To do this we attend football matches both in the UK and continental Europe, observing the behaviour of the police and of fans and talking to fans about themselves and their experiences. All the information we record is treated with absolute anonymity. Under no circumstance will any incriminating details about specific activity or person be passed on to any police force, club or football authority.
