It's why most people on here criticised Arsenal for going for the 0-0 snooze fest at the Etihad. You can't rely on people to beat City, you need to do the job yourself. We've found that out over the years ourselves. It's all very well getting a battling draw but it's just not enough to not show any ambition to beat them.

Edit: you are also battling the enormous "luck" City get with officials. The Doku non pen, the offside goal against Wolves (might have been Fulham)..about 3 more from Michael Oliver alone.

Arsenal have had plenty of luck themselves, arguably more than City this year. If we'd had a fraction of the wrong decisions go right, we'd still be in this.

That's why they couldn't lose that.game though. They stayed above City by drawing.

Yeah, if they beat Villa they would still be in the driving seat. Revisionism to suggest 0-0 at the Etihad was anything but a great result.

Turns out it wasn’t tho . That was Arsenal’s chance to win the title . We all said Arsenal won’t win out but Abu Dhabi would. Arsenal had to win that game.

Nah, that was a poor strategy from Arsenal. Arsenal were in good form, City had a load on injuries. They should've gone for the kill.

It's no wonder City don't tire or burn out..the games are so slow and methodical. Occasionally they'll get a game like at Anfield.

Arsenal will regret not trying to beat City away. Said so at the time. They had a massive chance then and completely shut up shop. Villa result was poor but would be irrelevant if they'd beaten City.

If we'd have stayed ahead of them I think it would have been more likely. We saw in 19/20 that they don't like playing catch-up.

It's like with Arsenal now. This result today increases their chances of dropping points tomorrow I'd say.

City had injuries and weren't in great form. Arsenal were flying and no injuries. They played for a draw, which was a massive fail.

Out of interest how many times did we beat City away when we were fighting titles with them? It's very easy to say teams should have tried to beat them but how often does it ever happen anyway? That's part of the issue as to how difficult it is to win titles now.

It's not really about doing it. The issue people had was that they didn't really try to. We never beat them, but we always went out with the intent of trying to win.

Exactly.

2-2 draw in 2022.
2-1 defeat in 18/19.
4-0 defeat in 2020 but we’d already won it

Easy title win for City from here. 4-0 vs Spurs. 5-0 vs West Ham.

Boring season.

Same again next season probably. I'd take finishing 9th and winning the CL.

Proves the point as Tony's just pointed out, defeating City is next to impossible whatever their form.

Arsenal getting to 89 points and not winning the league are Rookie numbers.

Yeah, if they beat Villa they would still be in the driving seat. Revisionism to suggest 0-0 at the Etihad was anything but a great result.

It’s not though. In fairness it is a decent result. But a win there (easier said than done obviously) would have given that margin for error down the line. It’s one thing to say a point keeps them in front. It’s another to then have to win the last 8 or whatever it was to keep ahead.
