I don't think we've shown in any game this season really that we're ready for a title tilt. Whilst we are good, occasionally very good, in moments we don't seem to sustain it and/or get the rub of the green enough to get us over the line. 4 points dropped at home in 2 games is a bit of a stinker. I thought Diaz, Gakpo and Gravenberch were all seriously poor there. Diaz is a real concern at this point. Trent scores I guess maybe it all feels different but something needs to click soon for this side to kick on/finish top. City remain very big favourites for me.

Strange decision to take Jones off and keep Szobo on, Jones was playing well. Gravernberch was awful when he came on. I thought we edged the game, such as shame that Trent shot hit the bar. A decent point, onwards.

1 point off the top at Chrimbo?

Would snapped the hand for that in August

The position we're in is fine, content with the result today all in all.

So much to improve on though. Arsenal are such an accomplished side now and difficult to play against, plus what City are capable of.

Given our away performances, we can't afford 4 points dropped in a week at home. We've still got to the Emirates later in the season and we know going to Old Trafford and Goodison will be a real bear pit if we're in a title race, but they'll roll over to Arsenal. Plus the handicap we have with Manc refs and VARs.

That’s the frustration with Trent, world class footballer but always a spoon or fuck up in him. He buries that simple finish and we aren’t talking about all the other shite.

Gutted.

A point off top at Christmas and shaded it against the team at the top today.

We're not going to walk it, but we're in the mix.

Exactly. We are in very good position considering and for everything being said about this Arsenal team they have conceded the same amount as us and are only a point ahead of us.

Overall we were the better side and should have won. We're still definitely in the mix and one point behind the leaders at Christmas is great.

However, I don't think we're good enough to sustain a title challenge until April/May and the last two games have shown that. We're definitely good enough for a top 4 place though.

Those are the margins between winning titles and ending up second best though. He simply has to score.

Nah - a feature of the whole match was the tennis ball bounce.

We are clearly not winning the title, we simply do not have enough.

1 point off top, joint fewest goals conceded, best Goal Difference.

Lost one league game this season - when we went down to 9 men, had a goal not given in one of the worst pieces of officiating ever, and still held out until beaten by a lucky deflection in the 96th minute.

We've not been perfect by any means, but neither has anyone else. No one else is running away with the title here. It's not the race to 100 points versus City like a few years ago. At the moment, no one is running above an 85 point season.

Another frustrating result, but infinitely superior performance to last Sunday. If Trent doesn't try to hit it as hard as humanly possible, or if VAR was remotely competent we'd have taken all 3 points.

Great display from Ibou.

Diaz is a worry. Offers so little and no where near manes level

I am struggling to see his contribution. Doesn’t dribble anymore, pressing isn’t very good, not a goal threat, gives away the ball way cheaply. Needs to be fifth choice before he rediscovers his form.

Ran out of steam at the end. No surprise given we played midweek.

Could easily have won with the chance for Trent.

Amazed Arsenal settling for a point towards the end. Poor really.

Lad we are at the halfway point almost and we are 1 point off the top. Ready or not at the moment we're very in a title tilt. There's a reason where we are were we are. Arsenal and City obviously have their weaknesses too. How are we not ready for a title tilt but they are?

The frustrating thing is that we should be even better but why do you think we won't finish the season strong like we often do? It's a new team and we've done really great to be 1 point off the top at this stage. We're in a very positive position. I don't understand you guys sometimes.

When you've got a cheating ref doing the VAR, you've no chance

He we go again our fans honestly? If the ref wanted to cheat, he probably gave the pen to Arsenal late on if wanted to cheat or booked Van Dijk for dissent. All teams get bad decisions, even City if you look closely.

What?

Ha exactly. Last few games have been much better, even though in parts we've not clicked attacking wise. I'm disappointed with the result but I didn't expect us to be in this position at Christmas and playing decently. Attacking wise is where we need to be better but Id rather that than having a non-functioning midfield and it's easier to fix. Also hoping we get some of the injured back as these freak injuries are starting to become a bit of a joke.
We have to change from doubter to believer. Now.

Apart from the bad start, played reasonably well, deserved to win.  But again, forwards, apart from Salah’s great goal, where rather poor, especially the passing. Nunez did more in just a few mins.

Disgraceful reffing decision again going against us.

Saka is a scumbag, Tsimi probably done for a while now thanks to him.

Endo and the defense where great though.

Disappointed to not win that, we had the chances and Trent has be be putting that one away. We also fluffed too many good positions. Think we mightve been better off keeping Gakpo on once Diaz got injured, just to keep the 3 up front.

Maybe it is a good thing that we're not on top at Xmas, don't think we're quite ready for 'statement' wins just yet. The big positive was that we were massively better than last week, obviously helped by Arsenal being brave themselves.

Another game where most of the decisions went against us, that handball was incredible to be honest.

Injuries will decide where we go from here, can't lose Diaz or Tsimikas for a long spell.

A point Vs Arsenal is not a bad thing, but we can legitimately claim we should have won either by the chances we created or the penalties we should have had. Fair application of the rules  & finishing letting us down.

Were we watching the same game? I thought we were disappointing and didn't threaten anywhere near enough, Arsenal weren't great but probably had more control than us.

I thought Arsenal worked the ball better and exercised more control through most of the game, a bit sloppy themselves in the final third/final pass. Their front 3 not great either.

The physical effort we put in and the home advantage of a partisan Anfield crowd was enough of a leveler overall and it could have gone either way. If it was at the Emirates tonight I think we'd have really struggled, but then Arsenal didn't play midweek and we do have key absences.

Could have done with Grujic and even Chirivella to tide us over this season
