Yeah, starting Nunez against a physical team like West Ham makes sense.

In such a sumptuous festival of shite, I wouldn't be so quick to pick a winner..

But he'd make the shortlist

Looks like it'll be an extreme low block for them with 3 dm's at least, no surprise really.

Happy with that team and strong options of the bench if needed. Hope we start fast this time!

That midfield 3 seems like the go to for us now. Would be really interested how we would have lined up if we had bought Caicedo or another starting DM.

Pleased to see Jones keep his place, and Nunez and Diaz with Salah is our strongest set up right now. Looking forward to this

He played on Thursday and we dont really want to be playing him twice a weak following a muscle injury.

Why would we start him Thursday rather than today?

yeah playing for set pieces or for a paqueta ball on the counter to bowen/antonio. hopefully our technical midfield smother them through possession, and keep the number of counters limited.

interesting we prioritised konate for thursday over today - although I think matip was motm last time we played west ham so lets have more of the same please
Wonder if Gomez inverts again.
they'll pepper the ball over the top into our right side (probably with variable quality) and he'll have to make a lot of covering sprints back if we're not very careful with it. be interesting to see given recent in-game choices (although they were away games)

Just don’t concede corners on our right and we should be good with that team.

Of course he does.

If the winger follows him inside Mo will have a 1v1. If he doesn't we'll have numbers in the middle for a comfortable build-up.

I think it will depend on whether West Ham presses us or not.

This could be a really good game and cant see us keeping a clean sheet.

Just score more than them.

strong squad for both. think we need to keep an eye out on bowen and antonio. if we keep those quiet, hopefully a rather uneventful game.

love that curtis have claimed the left side midfield as his own. time for him to kick on! we all know how much of a threat he can be attacking wise just his defensive side needs a bit of work. The fact that he is frequently starting means klopp trust in him.

Why would we start him Thursday rather than today?

Because he had been injured and needed minutes?

Matip's also just much better on the ball which we might need with no Trent.

When you consider we lost 6 players at the end of the season and Thiago, Alexander-Arnold and Bajcetic are missing that's a strong 23, some depth. Obviously a couple of weak areas but like that bench.

As with Villa, West Ham are now regarded as a proper force with good players. I think that focused the mind against Villa. Hopefully a repeat today.
