He obviously got on the ball a lot when he played deeper. It really showcased his ability more than any other time I’ve seen him. With the way he can spot a pass, and the speed in which he can play it, he can be dangerous anywhere in the midfield.

Could have easily gone for silly money this summer had it not been for his release clause. Seeing the drama with Caicedo ultimately ending in a £115m transfer should remind everyone of what a coup Mac was. Also no dodgy reps. He’s been great in pre-season, can’t wait to see him this year.

He is so good! Cannot wait to see him play alongside Thiago.
Mark my words. Top 8 will be a massive struggle.
We won't make any big signings this season and we will go back to being a top4 club.

He was excellent, hopefully sign a DM so he's freed up for Newcastle, Bournemouth shouldn't matter.

Not his best position but he's ace. Neville said one signing won't fix everything, but having a proper 6, allowing Mac Allister to play higher up will make a huge difference.

Felt sorry for him as he desperately needed an athletic ball winner next to him but you can see he's a class act.

Both him and Szobo are gonna be great additions.

This season already has a much better vibe than the last one.

I think he will be excellent for us if we get him a proper midfield partner. That has to be the priority.

Did a decent job in the 6 but its not where you want him, once we get a proper 6 in and move him forward he'll be a joy to watch.

Really encouraging start given that’s not his best, or most natural, position to play in.

He’s going to be an excellent signing for us.

Was great today, the sooner we can move him up the pitch the better though, feel it’s a bit of a waste having him as the 6.

Absolutely not a 6. Him and Szobo either side of a proper athletic DM.
I’ve plenty links to the clubs playing and backroom staff as many on here know thank you very much. Fair enough, I admire your optimism. But you’re absolute ostriches if you think this squad, even with 2 or 3 new, “cut price” players with potential get us anywhere close

Overall, an excellent performance and is going to be absolutely class for us.

Just wish he hadn't absolutely fizzed that ball at Darwin towards the end when Chelsea surrendered possession.

No Liverpool player won possession more times (10), won more duels (7), or completed more take-ons (2) than Alexis Mac Allister against Chelsea.

He won possession in the final third more times than any other player on the pitch (3).

Get a proper DM next to him and he will be the real deal.

that was a tough one. He was doing whatever he could be first to the ball and then one timed the pass.

He’s brilliant. Our players need to get on his wavelength. There were multiple occasions where he got frustrated because players were just sitting on the ball and not moving it quickly.
