The last one was October. He's just as likely to go 10 months without another injury but that's a lot less fun to post about.

Is this another one of those posts that tries to claim Keita isn't injury prone? When had he ever gone 10 months without an injury before? And no, it's not 'fun' to post about Keita constantly being out - we all wish he were fit and playing like the player we thought we were signing - but most people are, very justifiably, sick and tired of it.

I imagine he's had 10 month plus spells without injury for most of his career, just as Matip had before he came to Liverpool. Matip managed a full season last year and Keita managed 10 months. We obviously do need to manage them more than players like Salah who are always available but to suggest he's going to break down every 2 weeks is obviously an exaggeration.

Is it?

Admittedly doing this off the top of my head, but he missed around 40-50% of the games in his first season - was it three separate injuries?

He then had a slightly better 19/20, where he still missed games, especially a lot of the first half of the season (which is where we actually won the league), before playing a lot in the last couple of months after the covid stoppage.

Then he barely kicked a ball and missed most of 20/21.

Last season he had his best availability, 'only' missing about 8-10 games through injury.

Now, he's gone for the first couple of months of this season.

It's not constant absence, but simultaneously I don't think anyone being sick of his lack of availability is exaggerating in any way.

Edit - having checked his injury record on transfermarkt, it doesn't seem to make sense. For example, it claims he missed 23 games through illness and injury in 20/21, but he only played 500 minutes in the PL that season and 147 minutes in the CL, so in reality he missed a lot more than claimed.

Hope we get some good news on Harvey. Just watching the replay this afternoon, I noticed that he gave a little wave as he came off at h/t which seemed to be of the "need some attention please, doc" variety. Body language expert that I am. ;)

Klopp said in the post match conference that they took him off as a precaution, that with any other scoreline he'd have probably stayed on but given the state of the game there was no need for any risks, and that he was fine after the game. Paraphrasing but that's the jist of it.

What’s Jones injury, he’s been out a while, but can’t recall what the problem is or how long he’s supposed to be out for

I think Klopp has only said it's a stress thing. Given he was in a protective boot I took that to mean something like a stress fracture. I don't think any specific information has been revealed but we tend to be very vague on injuries these days.

Thought it was a calf injury?

Could be, the stress fracture thing was just speculation by me from a combination of what Klopp said + the protective boot he had on. If you have heard it's the calf you might be right. A quick google says the Athletic reported a calf injury so you're probably right.

Nice!

Probably too early to even make the bench against Newcastle for Jones and Ramsey. Matip - he had a full preseason and even played in the first two games - so he should be a bench option (barring a setback)

The lesser spotted Ramsay! Wow
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

at this point I don't even know what kind of problem he's recovering from.

It is such a relief to see players coming back. It seems like:

Matip, Ramsay and Jones should be back imminently.

Jota back maybe by the weekend?

Sounds like Thaigo not far away (though with the usual caveats about those sorts of comments)

Nunez available again after Newcastle

Kelleher hopefully back.

Just Keita, Ox and Konate out for longer it appears.
It looks to me as if we have signed another 'average' player. I'll hold back my complete opinion until I see the lad play

Didn't see that. Did take a small hit while following through a high booted clearance, but didn't appear to be limping when we were wasting our own time wandering around with the armband. Hopefully not injured, and the head shake was something else

Maybe the messing around with the armband was because he wasn't in the best place mentally. He looked pretty dispondent as he went down the tunnel, rather upset.

There has to be some type of story at some point to explain the amount of hamstring injuries in 6 games already, it seems somewhat outlandish. I'm assuming with the schedule as it is there was some unique pre-season schedule put in place and it has completely backfired but I really know nothing so who knows. Seems crazy though in that even the healthy ones seemingly don't have the legs in the game to properly hit cross field balls since game week 1.

seems like curtis and matip is back

thiago, jota, ramsay will be soon. any timeline for konate?

with arthur making up the numbers our midfield kind of looks decent for now till another one gets crocked

most importantly will we see keita in a liverpool shirt again. the contract talk and injuries and illness talk are just vague
