There must be other tactics to break teams down that what we are trying week in week out. No tempo to our play. No speed in passing. We could player another 10 of those halves and not score

Not a great half from us but neither side did much.
Firmino, Shaqiri and Thiago are not playing well. Henderson has been great.

We need somebody in midfield who will pass quicker and runs past their man. We need to be playing higher up rather than passing around our backs.

Maybe try Jones instead of Shaqiri. We are missing Henderson in midfield but I wouldn’t risk changing our centre halves.

Need to revert to that diamond from Sunday or remove Shaq.

Ball is being moved far too slow, against West Ham even though it was 0-0 at HT, we were moving it one touch at pace. It felt like it was coming.

It doesn’t feel like it’s coming here unless there’s a change in shape or tempo

Based on the game and a half I’ve seen of Brighton against us this season I have to question why they are where they are in the table.  They’ve been solid, have pressed well when appropriate, not missed a tackle or block and not one of them has been out of position once.  They also carry a bit of a threat going forward. How are they at the bottom end then?

As good as they have been we have been really poor. Misplaced passes, mis-controls, over hit through balls, the lot.

Let’s hope for a bit of uptick in the second half, because right now it’s looking a lot like the last three home games.

Fair play to Brighton though, they're a far better footballing side than the other shite that have come to Anfield and taken points off us recently.

Very good pressing from Brighton. Shaq not working on the lift. Nothing from midfield looking to get past the front three - no runners. Trent quiet. Bobby's passing woeful but the difference is we're playing a hard working compact team again. Let's hope they tire in teh second half as they had less rest.

We need an earlier sub than one on 60 mins. Maybe go to the diamond and bring on Curtis and Ox

Feel for Mo and Bobby here, getting so little from the 3 in midfield and Shaqiri. These are the sorts of game we were saying Thiago would be the difference maker for us and he’s really not showing it so far.

Ox, Curtis and Origi for Shaq, Thiago and Milner if we had five subs
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Fuck all runners from midfield and zero width hence a borefest need to bring Jones on at HT for Milner and possibly Ox for Shaq.

No runners from anywhere to be honest. Another handful of promising balls with no one anywhere near them.
I think the same, can't stand him, but if you could have a £1million pound cheque or steve bruces head hollowed out and filled with pound coins which would you have?

Other team sitting back defending, pressing us, playing like they are in a cup final while next week will roll over. Seems like we’ve been in Groundhog Day playing in the same match for the last two months almost.

West Ham was exactly the same too until we got a goal. I swear though I’ve never seen us have such a run of games with zero luck, no fuck ups from the opposition or nothing from the ref in so fucking long. That coupled with the fact we can’t seem to find a final ball or finish when we get our one chance per half isn’t helping either.

Hopefully they keep their heads up and give that extra few percent as that is the reason we got through all these dross games last season.

In viewed in conjuction with the performance in the away game you'd have to say Potter has us figured out as we're terrible against him in 135 minutes so far.  I see nothing on the bench that will change this.  Just need some better play from somewhere Is about all we got.

Potter has the joy of playing us with 6 or 7 players out.

Very hard to break a team that has so many behind the ball, but we are too slow.

On the odd occasions we have been running at them with some pace the passing has been terrible needs to improve quickly.

too slow on the ball - take a touch, head up, take a touch, pass it off and too slow off the ball - too little movement, too few runs when we're near their box and when we do get possession when they're in our half we're not breaking quick

and does it ever occur to us to get to the byline on the left? robbo isn't making any runs into the byline area, and i mean any

The Dan Burn chance is the answer to that. Their finishing is typically dreadful so they don't get the result their otherwise good play deserves.

The most incredibly dull half of football I've watched in some time. No fans, third game in a week, no intensity...shock. It'll improve probably, it can't get any worse to watch anyway.

Brighton are defending in a good shape and pressing well in their own half. We look to be able to get in behind Burn with Salah but we'll have to play much more quickly and with more courage in possession to start creating chances.

I don't think Firmino has been particularly bad We do look a bit stale and predictable in midfield though and I was expecting Jones to start after his fine cameo against West ham, here's to hoping he comes on soon.

He's given the ball to Brighton players more than other Brighton players have. One of them was a good break too. :(

Firmino needs to sharpen up and come short for the ball. He has given away too many passes.

Klopp didn't seem too animated so maybe the tactic is to sap energy in the first half and unleash in the second.  Hopefully at least.

We did work some nice gaps but the passing then let us down.  Not really a game for floated crosses as their central defenders are comfortably set and tower over our entire attacking six.

Just scrape any kind of win please  ;D

Feels exactly like the first half of the West Ham game so far. We probably look even less dangerous though.

Hopefully the pattern of that game continues. Real disappointment if the form of the last two games drops down against Brighton at home.

I've seen this one before and FUCK it's tedious. Front 3 have all been poor really, and milner's creaking a bit imo.

Jimmy for Jones.
Chamberlain for Shaq.

I'm not saying it'll be better, I'm just saying it'll be different.

Would snap your hand of for a shitty 1-0 right now.

Neil Atkinson was astutely correct when he said that between the boxes, Brighton are as good as anyone in the top 6. Bissouma is an outstanding footballer and has kept Bobby very quiet. Millie and Shaq have offered very little going forward, and what we have produced has resulted in under or over hit key passes or as in the best opening of the game, Mo blasting over.

Beyond frustrating that, but not unexpected - particularly by Klopp.

Anyone see Mo get mugged, but not go down, so he let them play on? Fucking madness.  :no

I don't understand why our forwards with their back to goal on the halfway line will not go down when fouled.
