My favourite role of his outside of Bond is from THE ROCK.  :D

The Hunt for Red October for me. Scottish actor playing a Soviet submarine captain, the accent still makes me laugh.

Some personal faves From Russia with Love, Dr No, The Hill, Time Bandits, Murder on the Orient Express, even the cult Disney film Darby O'Gill and his 'attempt' at an Irish accent ;D

Not as bad as his “Begorrah” as Flanagan in the longest day alongside our own Norman Rossingtom.

My favourite Sean Connery moment was watching The Rock in a French cinema and his voice being dubbed by a French bloke trying to impersonate him.
Haha I wouldn't have been able to maintain the silence and probably got turfed out. Come to think of it, ol Sean's voice would have been the original meme back then if meme's existed.

What a sad bit of news to be greeted with. RIP you shexy bastard.

Gene Hackman and Clint are hovering around that age too.

Watched that this week, cracking movie.

Amazing that he convincingly played a pretty helpless old bloke in that but was then doing the action hero part seven years later in The Rock!
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

One of my favourite performance of his was in The Man Who Would Be King.

Greatest adventure film ever. Kipling and Connery and Caine. Even the legendary director was dwarfed by the presence of those three.

Just yesterday I watched "You Only Live Twice" and I was laughing myself silly at all the things in that movie people would find totally offensive today; from the way the Japanese practically started each sentence with "Ahh So...." to the police chief's home with all its "possessions" being 8 scantly clad women, to the undercover make up they gave Bond to participate in a Japanese wedding, which included applying bushy dark eyebrows and prosthetic skin around the eyes to blend in with the natives   ;D ;D

Sean Connery was a legend and proved he was more than just Bond in various roles later in his career. He had screen presence and though he has been retired for many years and has suffered ill health for some time, he will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.

The greatest James Bond, in my view, and iconic in so many films. He will be missed.

It doesn't seem to get mentioned in nostalgia about his filmography, but my very favourite of his films is 'Robin and Marion'.

An older but still stunningly beautiful Audrey Hepburn starring with him, and the incomparable Robert Shaw as the Sheriff of Nottingham, and Nicol Williamson as Little John. Not even mentioning Richard Harris as Richard and Ronnie Barker as Tuck.

A gentle, whimsical and deeply sad reflection on legend and old age, with a truly touching love story at the heart of it. I think only Connery could have pulled off the older Robin, desperate to rediscover his youth, achievements and his one true love. And a John Barry score to round it all off. I just love this film.
Be humble, for you are made of earth. Be noble, for you are made of stars.

Absolutely devastated by this one of my all time favourite actors

The Last Crusade was my favourite Indiana Jones movie because of Connery's performance and The Rock is one of those movies that I can watch again and again.

Only met him once in the Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh. Very briefly to say hello, love your work and shake his hand. Laughed said thanks and got in the lift. His brother Neil used to drink in the old airport club and drove the left hand drive Merc Sean gave him (when in Spain I guess). He was his brothers double and let's just say he played it to the maximum. In truth he was/is a plonker (Neil that is).
