2020 Summer Transfer Draft Round 1
« on: August 10, 2020, 05:21:47 am »
Game 1

Gerry vs Surfer

Gerald's Team

vs

Surfer

Since max asked for formations...

Settled on the formation and players now.  Gone for the 2-3-2-3 Metodo of yore,  more recently adopted and adapted by Pep at Munich.

(1) Pepe Reina,  (2) Jerome Boateng,  (3) Antonio Rudiger,  (4) Theo Hernandez,  (5) Marcel Sabitzer,  (6) Axel Witsel,  (7) Arthur Melo,  (8 )  Piotr Zielinski,  (9) Lorenzo Insigne,  (10) Son Heung Min,  (11) Christian Pulisic.

A strong focus on pace,  possession,  some steel,  particularly Axel Witsel.

Will show some team movements in the next post.

The choice,  characteristics and movements of Sabitzer, who defends wide,  deeper but plays as a right-central midfielder in possession and for preventative marking balances Theo Hernandez's forward bursts to join the attack. This is a notable aspect of how Pep structured his team at Bayern.

Witsel anchors the midfield,  Arthur is critical in both the defensive and offensive phase,  Zielinski completes my unit here and links with the attack.

The Son,  Pulisic,  Insigne attack fits what I want to do.  All three have the freedom to interchange positions,  move fluidly.

I considered other conventional full backs and formations first,  but having say Theo on one side and Hakimi on the other is still a tad exposed.  So Sabitzer gets his shot in this fairly unconventional setup.

1) Theo's overlap down the wing. A main facet of this team:

Sabitzer tucks in,  into midfield.  Zielinski joins the attack.

2) attack,  right central:

Zielinski joins attack after starting move,  Sabitzer moves into centre midfield, supporting the play alongside Arthur, Theo goes forward,  Insigne -  Son interchange.

Have you not learnt yet ;D
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Should have been to be fair, Coutinho against Dan Burn would be interesting

if it only worked that way.  ;D

Coutinho would cut in and shoot from distance, as he always has and does. One trick pony  ;D

Yes and after a 30 minute Hattrick I could bring him off and play 10 against 11 and win

Claus has a great defence but his attack is kinda weak. Two great midfeilders too but one is a advanced playmaker and another is box to box player that is better going forward.

Yes Dan Burns is bang average but he is not terrible. Defacto's midfield has a good balance and he has a more potent attack.

I voted for neither since I accidentally only ended up voting on first game.

Claus has an attack that really struggles in a "current" draft. Coutinho has no form, Felix is still yet to reach his potential, Chiesa doesn't stand out and Tevez is way past it (hardly even plays in the Boca team). He then has nobody to sit in that midfield and it plays into defacto's hands really.

Great defence, but not enough to win him the game.
We already have shit in the country, and the game of Liverpool fills life with joy. Thanks
