I thought you got the player in the year you pick them from. Otherwise you can just pick someone who came on as a sub as an 18 year old in a cup final before they accomplished anything in the game.

I think it makes more sense to go with the players in the year they're picked. If the Bergkamp of Inter had been picked, it's a far cry from his Arsenal (or even Ajax) days.

Just doing my thing. Imagine someone finding out that Messi got a winner's medal as a young teenager when he wasn't even on the bench in a UEFA cup final. It didn't happen, of course, but you see what I mean? Then you've got his entire Barca career when in reality the Messi you picked is nothing like the player he would become.
