How has Karius looked?
Very very attractive. Hasn't had much to do except when Moreno played a wild backpass. He got between ball and striker to prevent a first time shot, striker went round him and the ball went out of play. A technically gifted player would have scored probably. Not that it would have been Karius' fault though.

Amazed at Moreno though. He learns how to solve his poor awareness problem and then 12 months later plays his first blind backpass in a year. :D

Jones and Ojo making a real case to be kept around the first-team picture.

Origi and Sturridge aren't.

Looking forward to seeing Keita and Camacho in the second half.

He goes to shit when he's forced to play a ball with his right foot and inevitably ends up trying to play with the outside of his left and fucking up.

I’ve been watching Fabinho all the 1st half and a little concerned. I know it’s early doors and Pre season but he isn’t showing for the ball..... is forever pointing for the ball to go anywhere but to him..... is positioning himself next to players so he’s not an option and has given the ball away.

I’m sure he’s feeling his way into things but could offer more for me.

What a load of nonsense and I have certainly seen some encouraging bits from him in all the games played so far. You must have missed the tackle he made earlier on, and he is always looking to keep any movement going, by passing the ball quickly.

Choppy first half, missing someone like Lallana or Keita to knit play together better.

Didn't think he was that bad but regardless I wouldn't read too much into it. He will be the most tired player this pre-season as the intensity is about 25% above what his level is. His legs are probably like rubber 24/7 at the moment until he adjusts, which he mostly will have by the season starting I would imagine.

You're concerned, 3rd pre-season game in, about ten days worth of training?

Well fuck me.

The biggest takeaway so far from this game for me is that they named one of their stands 'Neville Neville'.

Their keeper berating his defence for letting Keita waltz through them. I would answer "you try and stop him then!". There is a touch of the Kinkladze's with how he can't be tackled sometimes.

To be fair these very early games are just a fitness exercise for the senior players, I'd argue the people who need to be putting in performances are the youth players and the fringe (and returning loanee) players.

In that sense, it's been a disappointing few games for the likes of Woodburn, Kent and Origi. The likes of Sturridge and Ings probably have no future here regardless of their performances, and Wilson is obviously off on loan.

The two main beneficiaries I would say have been Jones and Camacho who have looked the most promising of the youth/fringe lads.

Wonder what size of party we will take to the US...
