That counter attack he should have passed it to Mane.

I think that could have been cut out though, idelwild was waiting for it. I’d have liked to see him use his pace and trust his right foot, he could have put the burners on and almost certainly would have been able to get a shot off.

Was fairly Idlewild on the second goal, no?

Said while watching it that Mane seemingly closed off that option by running alongside him instead of pulling away from the defender. If he'd done that, that may well have given Mo more space as well. Even though, Mo is taking at least two opposition players out of the game each time with his movement and not scoring aside, he's been playing so bloody well lately.

I thought that was a strange move from Mane at the time.

Mo scored today.

I don’t think he did, you don’t think he did, the PL don’t think he did.

But he thinks he did, and that is the only thing that matters. He’s won that game....

Which one? Today, 2 weeks ago, a month ago. January? November?
Mo did try an unsuccessful flick to put Mane in today, but otherwise Mane has every right to be pissed off for not getting a slot in occasionally.

He really doesn't - he creates the least of the front 3.
Salah creates the most of the 3 however you measure it (assists, expected assists, key passes etc)
The counter today was Mane's fault he's 2 yards away from him for some bizarre reason but regardless Salah's got every right to shoot or go for goal there somehow - fuss about nothing
More generally the reaction to his first dip in goal scoring since he's been with us is a bit disappointing.. everyone seems to be on his back - he was right in his interview he's a victim of his own success at the moment. Thought he basically played well today but clearly others think differently

Great player, but needs to be instructed to pass the ball in key situations when the pass is on, it´s getting ridiculous. Had a decent game otherwise, but if he plays Mané in like he should we maybe don´t need that bit of luck towards the end.

He knows that I'm sure. He's a world-class winger after all..

As with everything when you're off-form, that will also suffer. He does provide the assist or make a run or the decisive pass from time to time even though he's off-from, so I'm happy.

When he's on- he would make the correct decisions more often, including passing as we've seen in the past. Just let the guy be and ride out his blip.

He should have passed to Mane on that counter.

And he moved towards Mane (to get the ball on his left), not the other way around. Mane could maybe have been 2-5 yards wider, but that's trifling.

Salah's desperate for that goal, and it's causing him to force the game.

All strikers go through periods they dont score but as long as they are still helping the team then that's all you can ask for really.

He seemed a bit desperate for it on occasion and luckily it hasn't cost us......yet.....hopefully that last-minute OG which he had a huge part in boosts his confidence.

Mind you I was livid he didn't put Mane through when we broke on them in the 2nd half, saw it replayed a few times and he had an opportunity to play the ball but delayed it then took the shot instead.
Less of that....more of the stuff that contributes in us scoring, especially when the game is at 1-0.....i dont mind personal quests for glory when it is 2-0 or 3-0

But for the most part in this "baron" spell he has still played well most of the time and been a threat, draws players to him and creates space for others....and assisted a fair few times too or contributed atleast to the goals we have scored

It wasn't 'Poor'

The ball had no pace on, he had to generate the pace, more often than not that means accuracy goes. He did the right thing to get it on target across the keeper.

Like others have said, he's contributed plenty during this goal-less run.

However, someone mentioned on Sky yesterday (forgotten who) that if he doesn't score again for us this season can we win the league? IMO no chance. I think the final push we need is for Mo to start bagging them in again. We won some huge games last season because of a magical goal from Mo. Particularly in Europe.

It's a concern for me at the moment. This time last season you knew the ball was hitting the net most times it left his boot. Now you're doubting it every time.

That person on Sky is just being sensational.

We're doing great even with Mo not in full flight.

We could win the PL and CL without him scoring. As long as others continue to. Which they have been.

If he does start scoring we may win both easier? Or it may mean the others stop scoring.

Swings and roundabouts.

I'll get caned for this but he's technically not very good. He was making bad decisions last season but they were masked by an insane run of goals. This year, the system has changed a bit but he's continued to make those very same decisions, only now the goals have dried up which are exposing his lack of real quality on the ball. Shoot me.

What I do love is seeing him flying to towards our own goal tracking down a runner. You don't see many elite goal scorers doing that, in fact in the top ten scorers this season, the only two that will put in a covering sprint like that are our two.

away to Fulham he sprinted a good 60 yards to do that at a point we were really stuck at the back. had he not bothered they would have had men over and probably scored.

i think a big thing now is he seems to be surrounded when he is on the ball, i dont know whether the attitude of some is "stop him stop liverpool"

if thats the case they couldnt be more wrong. he often seems to have two players around him. frees others up

Yeah, I agree with this. More players seem to be on him this season.

Could be a reason why he aint dribbling through on goal and slotting them in a lot more, like last season.

Lucky we got Mane on the other wing ;)

yep, two on him means mane and firmino aren't marked as close or if they are it allows our midfield/full backs to come into play
